Re: My Sims 4 keeps updating

Hi @fishgirl538

It's a good question and always smart to check. 🙂 Uninstalling a game you've registered and played through Origin shouldn't wipe the game saves. Saying that, we will always advise making a back-up just to be safe. I'll cover how below.

Let's try this sequence of troubleshooting:

      1. Repair your game: To repair your game:
        1. Select My Game Library in Origin.
        2. Right-click on the game tile.
        3. Select Repair Game. We'll repair the game. Click on the spoiler tag to see the steps.
Keep in mind that the file check can take up to an hour to complete depending on your computer's hardware. After repairing the game, see if the uploading is still an issue.
      2. Make a Back-up: It's always good to have a back-up in case anything goes unexpectedly. To do this, head to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and copy the file. Paste it onto your desktop and you are ready to proceed with the next step.
      3. Uninstall, clear origin cache again and reinstall the game: Check out this guide on how to clear origin cache if you're unsure of those steps.
      4. Clean boot. This is thee next step, should the issue persist. We have an EA Help guide for this too called "How to clean or safe boot your PC or Mac" that will provide a step-by-step walk through of how to perform that.

Please let us know if those steps have helped you with this.

  • @EA_Lanna ,

Ok it worked to stop the updating, but it caused something else. I tried deleting the cache, clean booting the computer, repairing it, and disabling Origin in game. Oh sorry, I forgot about the problem. The problem is when I click play it will close out for a split second then be in the same play screen as it was before I pressed play. This actually happened before the updating, but that was 4 months ago so I forgot what I did to fix it... I also figured out that it was on all of my accounts on the computer. Not just my main one. So like if I were to play Sims 4 on my other account, it would do the same thing. Please help. I literally went through so many sites and found no help.

    Hi @fishgirl538 ,

Okay so glad we could fix the update issue. Now you mentioned you've another one and that you've had it before just can't remember what fixed it at the time?

I can't quite understand what the new issue is. Could you try to expand on it again. Are you able to play the game?

    Thanks,

  • @EA_Lanna ,

No I can't play the game. When I click play it tries to start it, but then it goes back to same page.

    Hi @fishgirl538

Yes we did actually. ^^ Thanks for sharing it. 🙂 It looks like you've a Windows update pending so we'll try updating that.

    To find it

    1. Open the Control Panel
    2. Click on 'Windows Updates'
    3. Search for Updates
    4. If there are updates available there'll be a button titled  'Install Updates' or 'Optional updates'. Select those.

Give that a go @fishgirl538. Check and see if that helps.

    Thanks,
