Re: Sims can´t use fertilizer

The special fertilizers that came with Cottage Living only work with the oversized crops that also came with Cottage Living. You get these by buying and planting oversized crop seeds.

Oversized crops cannot be replanted from their harvest, only from their special seeds, and they will be affected differently by the different fertilizers. Depending on how your Sim cares for them and what fertilizers you use, you may end up with 4 small, 2 medium, or 1 large harvestable. If you’re planning on cooking/canning with the result, 4 small will give you the most return for the cost of planting, but if you want to enter it in the fair you should be aiming for 1 large.

Normal / base game style gardening, unlike Cottage Living’s crops, will use the same item as both the seed and the harvestable, and can be fertilized with other base game style harvestables, fish, or pet poop.
