@SqueamishNerd , you have some excellent ideas! 😃 You are right about the unused idle animation in CAS!
I've always been upset that children in TS4 couldn't do children's spells (I mean, children in the Sims 1 even had their own spells that they could do! I remember the "make cakes" spell was broken , and since Makin' Magic was the last pack for TS1 Maxis was already working on TS2 so it was never fixed. We had to get a Mod to make it work! But all the other children's spells worked perfectly!)
Also, with the worldwide popularity of Harry Potter, a lot of people expect child Sims to be able to learn magic! Any cleaning spells for cleaning Sims or their homes would be perfect, such as Scruberoo. Teleporting, finishing homework with magic, some lighthearted pranks, magically reviving thirsty or dead plants, or even the ability to make it snow at will would all be good choices.
I'm on the fence about difficulty. Some days I'm happy that we can learn the spells quickly , but other days I want more of a challenge. I can see both your and @JonaO703 's points! 😅 But I think it would be a step in the right direction if we could turn off Transportalate as counting as experience points for Magic , with the option to leave it to count for those who are impatient! 😉
@siirysiir , I love your idea about letting toddlers accidentally do magic on their toys! 😄 Spellcaster parents could then help them hone their magic skills like they do with words or manners.
@xochiquetzl_xkvn in the Original Sims (TS1) children did have their own magic spells! It was so adorable! 🥰
And seeing how little there is for children to do in the game, this would be a great way for them gain a skill and do something fun both for them and for us! 🥳
