Reaper Rewards?

In my case, I had to do multiple game repairs (in a vanilla game, all mods out), nothing would complete, finally one of the game repairs worked or so I thought.  I got through all the tasks except the newsletter, it would not complete despite receiving it.  I did another game repair and finally got the completion or so I thought.  No mods added back and when I reopened, the newsletter, summon grim reaper and seance one were all back incompleted.

I gave up and closed my game.  It's just broken.  Everyone is having nearly identical issues.  It's also all over the facebook groups.
