Can you turn the fan off?

The MSI?
The regular laptop fan you can. That will turn on when the system itself needs to cool down.
However, the turbo fan has an off/on switch.
It doesn't have a light up background that I know of. It does have a back-lit keyboard though. It too can be turned on/off and you can change the color of the back light.
The back-light can be made purple if you'd like!! 🙂

Yeah to me the fan isn't annoying or loud, and you don't have to have the turbo fan on, it's just there for really hot days... like in the summer when it's hot you can have some extra air on the laptops hardware.
Never had a backlit keyboard, is it nice?
Yes, it's nice to have. Specially if you're working in dark room.

You can turn off the back light, if you don't want it on.
It's a built in thing with most new laptops. Some allow you to change colors of the back light. Some only offer red back light keys.

Thanks for having me check that again. It does have a back lit keyboard, but it's red only.
If it's anything like mine though, you can turn that off after boot up.

- Some are ok but some are bad, don’t think the keyboard lights up though. It keeps saying that it is plastic and cheap looking and that it has bad graphics

I watched a few review videos and all said it was a pretty solid laptop. Yes, the laptop's body is made of plastic. That's they way it seems they (the manufacturers) are going these days with laptops to make them lighter and easier to carry.
I did hear that the keyboard wasn't back lit in each video I watched. So it may or may not have back lit keys. It's not really that big of deal, unless that's what your really wanting out of a laptop.
Some of them are kind of strict.

Ask phoebebebe13 and chesterbigbird their opinions. They're really good at helping picking out a laptop and saying what's good and bad.
