Sim Died but toddler did not go to family in will

So I spent a few days creating a family, having a bay, letting the dad die, mom created a will, left their toddler son to a family member along with money and heirlooms. Mom died, and I got grime message about ghosts, so I chose free roaming ghost. Then I logged into the family members house, read the will. They got the money and heirloom items. No toddler lol. Now I’m bummed cause it made me save after the death. I checked household management from the world’s screen, just in case. Nothing.
