Sim is not receiving royalties

Have looked everywhere for a solution but can't find one...

I have no mods or CC, I started on Sulani and followed the conservationist career, making nature documentaries and not even realising they were meant to generate royalties. I became a mermaid but stopped being one shortly after (have seen that can cause issues too). I've since moved to the city and have been writing and publishing books but haven't received royalties for a single one, although the bestselling author aspiration is registering that the books are published. I've tried replacing the mail box, exiting and re-setting the game and have no idea what else to try, without losing progress with this sim on this save. 

Please help!
