Sims 4 CC

I'm having trouble using mods in my game sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Is there any custom content recommended by Ea that I can use that's safe.

  • Hi @mrzpink

EA's idea on CC is that you use it at your 'own risk'.

I use heaps of cc & mods, but keep them updated regularly, and set them up in different folders to sort when an issue arises such as Sims Game Update or adding a pack. (note, my game loads in a couple of minutes)

    •  Apart from culling your folders one by one, or the  50/50 method, to narrow down the broken cc or mod, that is all you can do, (restarting and checking your game each time) you'll simply need to find the broken mod/cc it and remove them.. ie: Not all cc and mod makers update their content, as the Sims has undergone many updates and new packs that some of the cc/mods will simply not cope with.
    • Mods & cc are well known to cause various in-game issues: please check for updates to them / where you found them; do this also > after any sims update or adding a game pack,
    • I use Sims 4 Studio for batch fixes it solves a lot of problems in bulk (but not all.) It's also available for Mac.
    • Dimitry's Mod Conflict Detector at mod the sims is good too, as you may have accidentally downloaded some Sims 3 / 2 items is not always going to be an obvious thing.. (if you haven't yet even tried to 'use' a cc in the game)  It will detect duplicates and 'wrong game' cc.. and sorts it via highlighting in bright colors.

Also, LuniverSims Tray importer is handy for listing all cc used on a sim (or lot) if you have a lot of cc and it's hard to find, use that app (you'll need to do a search for it) you can search your sims (with the game also running) it will sometimes list the artist as well, so you may find they have updated it when you locate where they shared it in the first place. The Sims 4 Studio also lets you search all cc, therefore you can 'see' it, but is not 'per sim'.

Hope this helps, you'll simply need to find the broken mod/cc it and remove it to have your game running smoothly again.

Thank you for responding to my question I tried dividing my cc into folders and repairing my game and unfortunately it didn't work. When I first started using cc my game was fine even when there was a lot of  content in my mods folder. However, close to the end of last year my game was lagging and was slow with the mods. It works fine without them but i was confused because My game just started acting strange. Is there any cc or mods that you recommend me to use that is safe and doesn't mess up the game or the computer. Also what does  heaps of  mods and cc mean.

    Hi @mrzpink

Well, that was quick 😃 I notice you refer to only a small part of my answer but only about 2 of the ideas. I use literally 1000's of mods and cc. Reiterating,

    1. I have no connection to EA, most of the helpers here don't.
    2. EA would not be about to 'recommend' any mods or cc in particular, nor would I necessarily as game mods are all very different in their function and what a player wants to include in their game.
    3. You say your game works 'fine without them' I still would say by 'culling and breaking down your cc/mods' you'd find the worst 'culprits', ie: my game does not lag.
    4. I gave you links to both Sims VIP and The Sims Forum, which covers broken and updated mods and cc. They are the best lists and 'go to' for information relevant to 'safe' mods.
    5. nb: Edit I mentioned already, EA will not be categorically 'approving nor endorsing' any mods / cc nor apps, they merely state (and so will I) that you can use mods and cc at your own risk. but note, people have been using S4S safely for years.

If CAS CC doesn't show up properly in the game, or shows up with a red and blacked checker with a ? on the Sim, the CAS CC is probably missing a mesh (a base custom content file required for the recolor to work).
