Sims 4 Death Flower causing Focused moodlet?

I'm on Xbox one S, so definitely no mods installed. I was having an issue with everyone being very focused when in a certain room. I tore the place down and built it back up twice and non of it was from decor that is listed to give a focused moodlet. So then I started troubleshooting. Building walls around items and moving sims in and out until I got to the very last items in the room 2 indoor potted plants. Troubleshooted them individually and it appeared to be one specifically. Troubleshooted to see if it was the pot, it wasn't. It's a Death Flower, at medium value. It's causing a focused moodlet on anyone that comes near. I reset my game, cleared my cache. Only thing I haven't done is uninstalled the game completely.

Does anyone know of this occuring? I couldn't find anything about it anywhere I searched. I'm guessing it's a bug. It happened the night before the update. So it wasn't caused by the update nor did the update fix/break it.

Input very welcome here!

  • I'm on PC and currently having the same issue which is how I found this post. I removed the Death Flower from the room, focused moodlet went away. I don't think this is bug; while I was looking online for solutions I saw someone else discussing how other flowers caused different emotions.

Interesting. I have had the plant in the same spot for a while and didn't have this issue until the night before the update. I wonder if it has to do with Seasons and the Flower Arranging skill? Apparently when you hit level 3 you can scent your arrangements and depending on what flower is in the arrangement, the emotion or response will differ. Even so, none are listed to give a Focused moodlet and Death Flower is listed to Age Up the Sim it is given to. So I feel like it is still a bug of some sort. I do have more than one Death Flower plant, so I'm going to test them individually to see if they all give the same moodlet, or if it is just this one specific plant.

  • So I did test with my other Death Flower plants and got the same results. So it isn't one specific plant that is doing it. Still haven't found any additional information on this situation though.

  • @blodregna I'm on PC and thanks to you I'm finally able to understand why my sims have the focus moodlet icon in a room where there wasn't any focus decorations. Thank you.
  • Just a quick update. I started a new game, new, from scratch. My death flower plant has made it to perfect status but at no point has any of my Sims experienced this focusing aura when around the plant. I have not included flower arranging as a skill in this save yet, though I do eventually plan to get a table and have one of them learn the skill. If the aura triggers after that then I will let you know.

I spoke too soon apparently. Just now, 45 minutes later, my sim is getting the moodlet when they weren't before. Nothing has really changed in that time. She's gone to work, harvested and tended the garden, chatted with a few other Sims. Didn't buy anything yet or unlock any new skills. Doesn't even have any objects on the lot that give a focusing aura. I'm doing a rags to riches challenge and so things are really bare bones still. Weird.

I can confirm that death flowers still give the focus decor moodlet as of 10/21/2024. I have all updates and no mods.
