sims 4 platform not lowering - error message

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Nederlands
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.68.154.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All. Have Snowy Escape waiting in pre-order.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When making a lot, placing a platform and it won't go down further than ground level.
What happens when the bug occurs? The platform will not lower, the down-arrow goes grey and is unclickable and next to the cursor I have a message "platform verlagen niet mogelijk"-translation: "Impossible to lower platform".
What do you expect to see? I cannot find any more detailed tutorials on platform online, other than the one from the Sims Guru Life Stream and what others wrote down after that. In the stream I saw SimGuru Graham lowering down the platform as low as the walls would go.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. New platform update in the big update november 11 2020.

It is highly probable that this is just me not knowing the limits of the platform function. However, I can't find any explanations online and when I look at tutorials by people who got early access I see everyone struggle a bit. But they seem to be able to lower platforms down below ground level. So I'm unsure if I have a bug or just don't get how the platforms work. 

A full tutorial by a SimsGuru would really help for all of us.

    @Lavendela91 I'm moving this GD for now, maybe someone here can help you.

    I'll move this back if it turns out to be a bug but if you're not sure how something works, it's better to get input first.

    I personally can't help with buy/build issues at all so hopefully someone here has some insight.

    @Lavendela91I could answer you in Dutch but here I will do it in English for this is the English page of the forum.

    When you want to lower an area you first have to build a foundation. Every tier you heighten this foundation you will be able to add a platform or lower it. you will be able to stack more platforms on top of each other.

    According to me this is not a bug as far as I played with it.

    Best try to get a grip of the way platforms work by experimenting with it on a vacant plot.

    No, you can lower a platform into the ground without first adding a foundation.  But you can't lower the platform if there is a basement already under it.  If you make the sunken platform first, and then add a basement below, the game creates a foundation automatically, to the depth of the platform, and the basement is actually created below that, meaning if you take away the platform later and then remove the ceiling of the basement, it starts lower down

    Thank you all for taking the time to message me. However, there were nog foundations and no basements when I tried to lower the platform down. I eventually made a work-around where I made a basement and moved that platform up. The lighting is now a bit strange, but that doesn't bother me too much. 

    I have had this problem now with several lots. 

    I did watch a couple of tutorials, I can't seem to find they have the same issue. There is just no possibility to lower the platform on ground level.
