Sims 4 RoM no "how to use magic" option

Sims 4 RoM -

My OG Sim...who has completed everything since the beginning of Sims 4..... can't get the "ask how to use magic" option from the Sages in the RoM (even though she's now BFF's with all 3). The option came up for a new Sim I created but not for my original Sim. I can't even play any of the RoM features without getting the prompt to collect the motes and become a spellcaster. Is there a work around? Why didn't the option ever come up? How can I get the original Sim this option?

@meclairer, sorry about that, but that is the first thing we need to ask in order to narrow down the possible reasons for problems to occur. 🙂 Yes, it probably has to do that your Sim is a Mermaid☹️. EA stated in the Livestream and elsewhere that you wouldn't be able to mix Spellcasters with other Occults (I thing Ghosts are an exception.) 😉
You can always do a test with a normal Sim to be sure! 🤔

@meclairer, do you happen to play with Mods or Custom Content (CC)?🤔 Mods and CC have to be updated by their creators in order to work with the changes any pack (like ROM) or any update/patch that EA releases for the game.🤨 If you use Mods/CC please do the following:
1) Move the mods folder to your Desktop
2) Delete the localthumbcache.package file in the Game Folder
3) Fix your game in Origin by logging into Origin and go to your Library and Right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the option to "Repair Game". Wait for Origin to fix all your pack and not just the base game.
4), Now, when you turn on your game again it will create a new, empty mods folder. Check to see if your game is now working without your mods/CC.
5) If you game is now working then you need to find the outdated Mod or item of CC. It is possible that more than one will be outdated. To find the culprit(s), you will need to add all your Mods and CC back one at a time while checking your game to see when the problem shows up again. (If you have a lot of CC/Mods you might have to do the 50/50 Method). When you find the broken Mods/CC you need to check back with the creator to see if and when they have a new version available that will work with the changes that EA made to the game with the patch and the new pack.
You will probably have to do this any time EA releases an update. It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC makers to update their items, and it is the responsibility of the people who use those items to keep up with the newest versions.

I've been playing the Sims since the beginning (2000) and never used MODS. I still don't. I did look to make sure my daughter hadn't added any. Could it be because my Sim is a Mermaid? I saw issues with Vampire Sims. Thank you for taking the time to try to help though! I'ts frustrating.

Ok, thank you so much! Yes my normal Sim worked...looks like I need to go "de-mermify" ( yes, I know that's a made up word) my original Sim.

I'm very happy you got to start at least some of your Sims on the magical path! 🥳 Your mermaids probably have enough to do on the beach anyway. 😉

That's exactly what happened with me. I didn't even clue in that this may have been an issue until I read this thread. Thanks for the help.
