sims 4

Hey, so, I feel like I'm out of the loop as I haven't played SIms 4 in a while and all I've heard was that the Cottage Living expansion had just been released. Besides that, while I was rebuilding my house, I noticed that new terrain tools have been added.

When I saw the water style, I was bamboozled because I remembered that I had a lot more variety of water styles from previous DLCs so I was wondering what had happened to that?

In addition, I have fewer pool objects because I have Get Together and that opened up more varieties for a pool. However, I feel very stupid to not find it other than in the section of "objects for Island Bluff" or something.

Am I not supposed to access certain features or have they been removed? What's going on? Where did the water style go where it was crystal clear and teal coloured? And what about the one with the petals in it? Were they just removed?

I feel like I'm not looking in the right place...

  • Hey, everyone! Thanks for the suggestions but I've managed to fix it!

I am not using any mods whatsoever and I guess my game has been corrupt for quite a bit because I thought it was normal to see the "Items Removed" message on my screen and I just didn't question it 😅 I've had that message come up a lot in my game and didn't realise some items were missing.

I verified my files and it repaired my game! I don't know what happened there since I've always updated my game so that's a mystery I can't figure out đŸ„Č

I've recovered all water styles and items missing! Everything looks fine to me now. I was so frustrated thinking EA just took away my items and I lost a bit of money 😭 but crisis averted 😅😅😅😅😅😅

  • Hello! Here is some information about the most recent updates to the game: https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/Patch-Notes-July-20th-2021/m-p/10524379#M51961

I believe they did not remove the water patterns. It is possible they are in a different category, but I will check! I have Get Together as well and do not have the new Cottage Living pack so I might be able to replicate your experience!

Edit: I also don't believe they removed the objects, but I can check.

  • Going to add a few extras that I noticed;

    • I checked the 'Get Together' DLC on a webpage and there was a water style included in the pack but I feel a bit thick trying to search for it since it wasn't showing up on the allocated menu.
    • I visited one of the lots in Sulani to see if I can find the ladder that lets you swim into the water when you build a platform over the deep end of a lot. The object, "Open Water Ladder" still existed on a lot I built BUT I could not clone it. It does nothing and does not bring me back to the menu where I can buy one, although it's still usable. What happened here?
    • On another lot, 'Jump and Splash 8000' still existed but no longer searchable in build mode. Could not clone. Same with Rung My Bell Pool Ladder. Same with Lap Guides from Slosch Co.
    • I don't know if it's restricted to pool items as 'Strip Away from the Darkness' Vertical Light was also removed but still existed in previous lots.

Although the other times when I was playing Sims, I did receive a message that said "Items removed". I feel like that's related? Please let me know, I'm confused. I don't know what happened and what would have caused this.

I'm having trouble replicating what you're experiencing. I was able to find these items.

In build mode I was able to select the water log icon in the object by room feature and find the variety of waters including those that came with Get Together (see attached picture). If you prefer to use the objects by function feature, I was able to find these things in the "water features" drop down category. The Island Living ladders should then be in the open water objects sub category. I was able to find the diving board/splash object from Get Together in the water features category too.  I think the reorganization is a bit confusing too, but these items are all in my game. Let me know if more screen shots would be helpful.

That's so strange because this is what I saw in my game and I couldn't figure out what had happen. I guess I'll verify the files and if that doesn't work, reinstalling would be an idea. If neither work, I guess I'll report it as a bug? In this screenshot, there is no filter applied and this is all I have. It's the same limited inventory when I visit pool objects... |:

@HerrKiddlmao That is so weird I'm sorry. Are other items from those packs in the game? In terms of non-water related items like furniture? Do you happen to have mods or cc installed?

@HerrKiddlmao , do you play on a console or on a PC or Mac?  If you play on PC or Mac, do you happen to use Mods or Custom Content (CC)? đŸ€” I play on a PC with no Mods or CC and was able to find all the items you listed as well as clone them (though I didn't test the open water ladders for cloning since the lot I'm playing isn't in Sulani)  Also, I could not check to see if I have the water style you are missing without knowing what the name of it is.  However I can list all of the waters that should be in the game (if you have the right packs for them):

    Base Game
    1) Ordinary Chlorinated Pool Water
    2) Dreaming of Water
    3) Pond Water
    4) Pond Scum
    5) Mossy Water
    6) Leafy Water

    Jungle Adventure
    1) Brackish Water
    2) Hot Spring

    Get Together
    1) The Freshest of Fresh Green Water
    2) Murkey Murk Murk
    3) "Pool" Pourri
    4) Swimming in Sparklies

This makes me think that either you are using Mods/CC (like @Theenaabeenaa  suggested) and they are out of date versions, or else you are playing on a console and this problem is a problem on consoles only.

If you are using Mods/CC , we just had a big patch to the game and patches can often leave Mods and CC outdated , so you will have to check with the creators of your Mods/CC items to get the updated versions (and get rid of the outdated versions) for your problem to be fixed.

Also be sure to delete your localthumbcache.package file , as this file can contain bits of corrupted data that can mess with your game, even if you get rid of or replace all your outdated Mods/CC! đŸ˜ž This file is found in your game folder (Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4). đŸ˜‰

Please update us on your situation! 😇

@HerrKiddlmao , that message would pop up a lot in many people's games, and this patch mentioned that it fixed that!

I'm so glad you have found your missing items!  đŸ™ŒđŸ„ł
Repairing your game when something goes wrong is always a good idea since it can't hurt to try! 😉

Thanks for sharing what helped you so that other people can try it if they have the same problem! 😇

    Yay! I'm glad it's fixed :D

That makes sense! If something isn't acting right, you can repair and see if that helps the problem! But hopefully it's smooth sailing from here B)
