Sims can't complete paranormal gig alone

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.70.84.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Paranormal, Snowy escape, tiny living, knifty knitting, seasons, pets, realm of magic, get to work, city living, university, get together, get famous, vampires, parenthood, strangerville, my first pet, luxury pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Enter paranormal investigator career. select any gig. when 9:30pm in game comes select option to send sim to gig alone.
What happens when the bug occurs? Before the end of this gig, sim will automatically return and there will be a notification saying the gig was canceled
What do you expect to see? My sims going to work for their full shift and returning having completed their shift.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Purchased and downloaded Paranormal pack.

Sim in paranormal investigator career cannot complete work day unless I follow them to active lot

  • okay so I think this is actually just a feature of the pack and not a bug??? it's a little confusing though

@jasoglia No, I don't thinks so. Never had this happen but if your Sim is say a Vampire, that could be for a reason.

Hence the question to narrow down why it's happening.
  • my sim isn't occult, and they got an scared emotion upon returning from the failed investigation saying they were too scared to complete it alone, so it's definitely a feature of the pack.

  • I am trying to figure this pack out myself and I think the last update helped; I have finally completed a hands on Expert Gig after failing several times before. I noticed I had to purchase the Brave trait otherwise they were too scared to do anything half the time. I would grind aspirations until you get 8k points, get the Brave trait, and then see if that helps! Also keep in mind even with the Brave trait, your sim will still get scared it just goes away really quick!

  • I just ran into this problem too. Before even starting a gig, I had to purchase the Brave trait in order to prevent my sim from being too scared. I’ve been having trouble completing the gigs but finally moved to Excellent. So this time I had her go alone and halfway in she was too scared even with the Brave trait. This doesn’t make any sense and I hope the developers fix it!

It's really annoying to me that the game tries to get you to go with a sim to their gigs with that moodlet, seeing as the moodlet suggests that you do this.  I get that it's an active career and is meant to be played that way, or at least sometimes, but what if you don't want a particular sim to do active gigs?  Too bad?  Gotta fail even the easy gigs randomly?  That's just unfair and limits gameplay styles.

At least make the harder gigs locked until you progress in the career to certain points, and/or guarantee that the sim finishes the harder gigs at those career levels, give a higher or maxed success chance with higher Medium skills, and a better success chance with the Brave Trait... and maybe even with the new Skeptic and Macabre Traits.
