Sims Can't Go to School: 'Day Off' Bug

Hey y'all, I am having an issue with High School Years and not sending my sim to school.

I know it's one of the buggiest packs in the game, but up until three days ago I've had no issues with it at all. I have an older teen, a new teen, and a child. The older teen could go to school, I got the messages, and he would operate just normally. The middle child aged up while on vacation to a teenager. I ended the vacation early, brought them home to do homework, all was well. The following monday I got a prompt to send the teens to school and select who to follow, I selected both. The middle child, however, had no prompts for school. She could attend the class, but didn't get any progress on her bar. After that, she got stuck at school and I had to relaunch my game AND reset her three times before she'd even go home.
Now when she tries to go to school, I don't get prompted for either teen, and she hasn't improved to an A student despite going to school for an in-game week.

Sometimes when I launch the game it says she has the 'day off' in green and won't say when she goes back. When it's like this, I have to relaunch the game and just hope for the best. If it fails, she just won't go to school at all.

I should add that when the younger teen does go to school (without the prompt to follow either teen), she only has 'Leave Early' as a performance option. My older teen has the normal ones like 'Work Hard' 'Socialize' 'Slack Off' etc.

I also tested this in another household (different save file), but the bug doesn't seem to happen :/

I have repaired the game, deleted and installed it, and nothing seems to work to fix her. I don't use mods or CC, so nothing should be getting in the way there. It's just HSY acting up.

(I am reposting this from Answers HQ, I got no answers, but did have others share the same issue)

  • This sounds like the School Daily Tasks Not Appearing For All Teens bug. I would recommend that you avoid having more than one Teen in your active household until the bug gets fixed. However, since that isn't always practical, I would suggest that you only follow one Teen to school (at most) and let the other teen(s) attend the rabbit-hole school. I've run into this problem with several households so I've mostly just stopped playing those particular saves.

I don’t get the prompt to follow my other teen, though. Both of them rabbit hole. His progress increases (he’s now graduated early) but the younger teen’s doesn’t.
