Sims graphic quality set to low, Why? + Action delay problem

I wonder why sims graphics is set to 'low' and can't be changed by the option menu. Sims in CAS have good graphics but then in the game they are terrible, the skin graphics is so bad and low resolu...

All this does not help with the problem of the low quality graphic on sims in-game (and even not with the delay to be honest...) We need Maxis' optimization updates, not to find shortcuts that does not even work...
