Sims Keep Dying from Laughter

I’ve been running into a strange issue lately where not only my played Sims, but NPC Sims are dying from laughter at an alarming rate.

Here’s what’s been happening:

My Sims will enter a Playful mood and quickly escalate to Hysterical, even with only a couple moodlets.
I’ve done everything I can to prevent it: removed playful decor, avoided joke interactions, and even used calming actions but they still end up dying.
I completely removed all mods/CC, cleared my cache, and even debugged my Sims the issue still persists.
The most concerning part is that I’m seeing random townies and NPCs dying from Hysteria too, on different lots and in different worlds, even when I'm not actively interacting with them.

It’s starting to feel like something is broken with the way the game handles the Playful/Hysterical mood, especially after recent patches.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix, or something else I can try?

  • What are the moodlets when they reach hysterical? Can you get a screenshot?

I tried repairing and that didnt work.  The moodlets are all playful boosting which seems to be what creates the hysteria and causes her death, but cant seem to get her stable.

Happy moodlets will boost any other positive emotion, so yes, once you get a single playful moodlet you’re likely to get it boosted by anything else that makes the sim happy (and there’s usually at least a few of those). And yes, hysteria is extreme playfulness. But what I was wondering was what specifically the moodlets were - not just what emotion they trigger. Is it clean laundry, a playful conversation, being near someone they’re jokesters with, active playful decor, etc - because if we know what’s triggering it for you, we might be able to figure out how you can avoid it.
