Sims using items on business lot instead of their home lot

Does anyone else think it is annoying when sims will use the items on the business lot when they have the same item available in their home? My sims keep going downstairs to watch the TV in the business, instead of watching the TV in the residential area. It wastes a lot of time, and it is more convenient to just lock the doors completely when the business is closed.
