Social Interaction With Fairies Change Romantic Preference

Update:

I went into another save with a brand new sim and tried to replicate this and could not. One thing to note, this new sim is a non-occult and the sim I was playing with is a spellcaster.

I went back into my other save and changed his romantic preferences back to men. Then went back in game and had him ask to be just friends. He carried on conversation with Clement Frost and Care Ren without rebuilding a romantic relationship with Care Ren.

Having a hunch about the trigger, I had my sim ask Care Ren for fairy dust and upon receiving the fairy dust, that caused them to develop a romantic relationship, changing his romantic preference from just men to men & women. 

My game is repairing now and I will try and recreate this issue again. I did record it happening, but there's no way to upload a video to the forum.

when removing your mods, have you already tried renaming your user folder ?

Yes, I renamed my user folder.  I ended up turning off romantic exploration and received no change in romantic interests. I've never had it off before and never had this issue.

Well, if they are exploring, it can change although it's odd that asking for fairy dust is counting as romantic interaction. 

Might be connected to the constant flirting issue that seems to have gotten worse with the patch ?

It's possible. I've started two new saves since then. Zhaleh Amani is still obessed with my sim although since romantic exploration is turned off they don't form a romantic relationship. When interacting with any other sim inside his gender preference, he does develop romantic relationships. Right now he has romantic relationships with a plant sim after asking for forbidden fruit and magic bean. And he has romantic relationships with Morgyn Ember and Simeon Silversweater after asking them to teach him magic.

Could you edit your first post to make it about non-romance interactions giving romance ? 

You can edit your post by clicking on the cogwheel in the upper right corner.

The cogwheel in the upper right only gives me the option to report a post for negative infractions.  

The post itself has no cogwheel or three little dots to open a menu with edit options. 

Weird.
