There isn't much you can do I've had it happen to me it makes me laugh when someone accuses you of stealing someone else's build or household when you haven't and then they steal it themselves I mean just the other day I got accused of stealing a household and I saw someone on twitch download a household I made two mermaids and then re-upload them as her own but I had the last laugh because it had my name as the original creator.
I can kind of understand why this happens, though. When newer to The Sims, I'd edit houses, delete them and so forth, but then would want to return the original build on the lot back sometime later. These would be in worlds I'm playing in and so I'd just pop into Gallery, look up the lot name, find the original build and place it down. Despite it being the original Maxis build, when saved to my Gallery, it would say it was made by the person who saved it as a backup copy. In turn, on my gallery, I have a renovation I did of a Maxis build, but it says the original build is by the Simmer who had simply saved it as their backup and that I edited it.
Then there are other strange things, like when in the past I'd place down builds by other Simmers. Like those who have back up copies of Maxis builds that are being credited for building them, in my back up gallery, some of the original builds of others now say they were created by me! I'll look at it and think, "Uh... no... Good thing this isn't something I'm trying to share." In turn, those who monitor the Gallery probably sees this problem a lot and are unfortunately quick to make judgement in turn: I'm tired, there is too much text... this thing says this, they have shown proof, okay, remove from Gallery. Next one... same topic. The monitor goes into pilot mode.
The Gallery tries, but it in itself has contributed to this problem of people losing precious builds and families in many ways.
