Honestly if you want story progression without the update, just install MCCC. I've had it for so long and had no idea that the story progression I'd been getting for my non-played sims pre-update was 100% due to MCCC. It enables autonomous relationships and marriages between non-played sims as well as pregnancies. I was so confused when I saw people talking about finally having semi-autonomus marriages etc etc and I was like "...Huh? Isn't that already in-game?" The answer is download MCCC
Yes, MCC is better, but I think this story progress came for console user or vanilla player which don’t want use mods.
I don’t like story progress and now the sims4 team force it in my playstyle. I hate all these calls and in my vanilla game I have each day two from these calls and one is always from my played inactive family! I read in reddit it will get better and the calls will less after a while but not for me. I love it really that my played (INACTIVE) Master-Vampire call his son if he should change his career (10) or his Human Mother if they should try for a baby. I don’t want these calls. Parents should not ask own children these things!
Summary: It was a mistake to release this story progress in this half-baked state. Now both players which wanted this and these which doesn’t want this are annoyed.

Pretty much. It feels very invasive to go up to someone and go "Hey I think you and your partner should have a baby" like why does my sims have any say in their life? I get constant calls from my sims friends asking if they should get to know X sim and I'm like I literally do not care go away.
Ask to pursue dream career is alright because in real life people encourage others to pursue their dreams, but the other ones are... odd to say the least. But I'll check out that mod you suggested and also see if I can find any that completely silence this update because, with MCC, I don't need it

I'm a rotational player and I feel like Neighborhood Stories should bypass your favorited/played households. The way it is now, it seems based entirely on your relationship with the other Sim, but if the other household is another played household you might have other plans for them! Also it leads to awkward things like your Mom calling to ask if she should Do The Deed with your Dad and give you a sibling. 😉
I'm doing the new Neighborhood Confidante aspiration with my Super Sim, and.I've had the following frustrations with it:
- The Sims who call and ask, "So, hey, should I get pregnant with my spouse?" NEVER GET PREGNANT. I suppose this could be because of my mods? (Does Wonderful Whims prevent this?)
- My other households in my rotational save are constantly calling whatever household I'm playing. CONSTANTLY. At least one call a week from Super Sim's mom to ask if she should get pregnant unless I'm playing her. If I am playing her, one of my other favorited/played households will call the main house (but never the Sim with the actual aspiration) to ask if they should get pregnant. Okay, the most persistent "Should I have a baby?" callers are Family-Oriented, come to think of it, but... they're very persistent.
I have had luck with convincing people to change careers. My Sim with the aspiration is a Global Superstar and I've started "Instant Besties Friendly Introduction" any Paparazzi and "Ask to pursue dream career," which I find hilarious. (Okay, I just like messing with the paparazzi.) So far they've become writers, babysitters, and secret agents. 😉 So this part of Neighborhood Stories is A+++ would mess with the paparazzi again. 😉
Also, I did get the ring in bag thing but I was planning on having those two get married anyway, and at least they were actually calling a third party.
One final thing: I'm pretty sure that it's As Designed that my Sim can't encourage Brent and Brant Hecking, with whom she has 100% friendship, to expand their family, but that makes me sad because they would be cute Dads and could totally adopt. Ah well.

I didn't think of that, yeah they should add adoption to it. It would probably be best as a separate option but that's a good idea. Also it would be cool if they did backwards updates and went and integrated it with the dlc so you could maybe encourage your sims to adopt a dog or a cat.
But right now it's a rather flawed update and I'd rather have them sort it out than add new features.
