Teen Responsibility Loss on Vacation

I am not sure if this is a bug, is intended or if I did something wrong.

I had a family (1 elder, 2 adults, 1 teen) go on a 3 day vacation. I noticed after the vacation ended that the teen took a huge hit on responsibility. I am guessing it was because he didn't attend high school and after school activity while on vacation? I had him do the work from home tasks from his simfluencer job. Also I checked when I got back home and there was no curfew set on the home board so couldn't have registered as broken curfew.

I don't have mods or cc. I have some packs, most relevant for this are Parenthood, High School Years, Growing Together and Island Living (vacation rental was in Sulani).

So it seems like missing high school and/or after school club is what tanked his responsibility. Luckily I have time to build it back up, but this would be really disappointing if it happened shortly before he was due to age up. Ideally taking vacation should have no impact on responsibility. So not sure if this is a bug.

    I think your Teen needs to use his vacation days, call in sick, or get someone to write an excuse note for him to avoid losing Responsibility when he doesn't go to school.

    @fa3133a14a102952 A LOT of people irl believe it's irresponsible for a kid or teen to go on vacation with their family (or whoever) while school is in session. In my experience no one ever said it to their face, but everyone ive known who went on vacation and took the kid with them during school had everyone else talking about them behind their back, things like "how are they teaching their kid responsibility?" And "ugh how irresponsible of them" and "yeah, they went on vacation during school...no, not during holiday break...yes, the child went with them...i know, such a bad example." Ive heard tons of stuff like that about parents who take their kids on vacations during school, people literally calling it (including calling the parents) "irresponsible", and when i was in high school some of the kids even talked a little behind the backs of the ones who went on vacation. Never seen anyone actually say it to the people going on vacation, just hushed when they cant hear. So i figured the game was just following that idea that its irresponsible of both the kid and the parents to go on vacation during school. But i understand there are different cultural attitudes about what constitutes being "responsible," and i dont think any of them are wrong, just different. If it bothers you maybe see if someone made a mod about it, or you can cheat their responsibility to go back up to what it was immediately if you want. Or maybe im wrong and EA didnt mean to make it function that way, in that case for your sake i hope they change it, but for myself i hope they dont because i like to play that way, lol im weird. Anyway hope this was helpful, if you need help with cheats or looking for mods let me know, happy to help = ) (I personally often argued in defense of the people who went on vacation during the kids' school, so plz dont take this the wrong way man, lol) happy simming and Peace = )

    @2001100 Thanks for the reply. One thing I didn't mention is that I have Seasons. So I am thinking I might need to go into the calendar to make a holiday to go on vacation and check the box for no work or school. So I will try that next time and that might take care of the issue. Not sure if that option is available on the standard calendar without Seasons.

    I understand what you are saying about going on vacation during school. I am in the US. So I am used to summer vacations, spring break, winter break, federal holidays, teacher in-service days, etc. with no school. With Seasons, I think the only no school holidays are Harvestfest and Winterfest, but you can add your own. Not sure if anything can be done with base game or the base game expectation is that students attend school every Mon-Fri with no exception. If that is the case, it doesn't track with my experience and what I think is a global experience (granted I know not every place has Mon-Fri as standard school week).

    Otherwise the only "responsible" family vacation a sim family with children or teens could take would need to start Friday after school and return by Monday morning before school. Also the game gives children and teens vacation days so I thought taking vacation would use those vacation days with no penalty. In a sense to make up for the fact that sim school is scheduled every Mon-Fri, but realistically there are days off. So I was thinking those vacation days could be used by a child/teen while they were on a vacation with their family for no penalty, but seems like I was wrong. Not sure what the point of child or teen vacation days are if they are day off with penalty.
