Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I am not sure. I have had the Sims uninstalled for over a year, and when it was reinstalled the items from Dream Home Decorator just are not available for use. I got the pack shortly before a patch update made it so the game was no longer playable for storage reasons, and looking back I do not think my pack worked then either.
What happens when the bug occurs? The Dream Home Decorator pack is completely unplayable. I am unable to change/apply to different jobs for my sims; either using the phone or computer. The only way I can get sims to get a job is through story mode in CAS.
What do you expect to see? Dream Home Decorator CAS items - a red and white checkerboard mannequin. Both in catalogue and when placed on Sims. Dream Home Decorator BB items - either a red cross that I am unable to place or a complete absence from the catalogue. The first time I attempted to get a job for my sim using the phone there were no options (including the home decorator pack) and there was an error with '#color...'. I left the screen so I could give it another try, but the screen did not come up again. The sim does the action on the phone or computer and there is no option to find a job.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

I have an issue with the Dream Home Decorator pack, where the entire pack is unplayable. I cannot place any BB items, and I cannot use CAS items. None of them are visible in their respective catalogues. I cannot access the career because the entire system for choosing jobs is unavailable. The first time I tried it, I was presented with the barebones of the usual screen but with no options to scroll through and no text apart from a '#color...'. Story mode in CAS is the only system for getting a career that works.
Items in CAS appear as a sim with white and red checkerboard skin and black question marks. I cannot see what they are. If I attempt to use the items, it turns my sims into a white and red checkerboard mannequin, and the middle section of their bodies becomes translucent. Even if I click randomisation, my sim will occasionally become what I described above until I systematically remove items from their categories to make them return to normal.
I am also unable to use any of the BB items. Similar to CAS, the vast majority of items are not visible in the catalogue. They are only visible as big red Xs that take up the entire item icon. There are no swatches, and I cannot place them; when I click on an item, there is no item to place, though the clicker seems to want to place something down.
The sectional sofa pieces are the only items I can see in the catalogue. However, they do not have any swatches or textures. It presents as a fuchsia-rainbow swatch that does not look like anything I have seen in promotional media. I also do not have access to the tool that allows you to place different versions of the sectionals (like you have for counters).
Furthermore, I cannot see many of the BB items in the catalogue. Whilst it is hard to ascertain what is and isn't present in BB because each item is visually indistinguishable, the amount of red Xs with the pack icon seems too few. Also, there are no items at all in the kitchen category. I know that counters are included in the pack, but there is nothing in the catalogue to suggest I have access to any of them. To clarify, there aren't any red Xs. I am just aware that these items are available in other games.
I am at a loss. Though this pack is not a recent purchase, I do not remember being able to play this pack within the year I have owned it. Shortly after I downloaded it, a base game update meant I had to uninstall Sims 4 because of my computer's storage limitations. I cannot recall whether I could play the pack during the short time that I have had it, but I definitely was not able to play the career. Upon reinstalling the game, I cannot play with any of it. Any help would be much appreciated.
