The Sims 4 language list shows only 3 languages

Hello!

I have a problem with switching the language of The Sims 4 game. I have the The Sims 4 64 bit and The Sims 4 32 bit Legacy Edition.

The languages available are: Czech, Polish and Russian.

I have always played in Polish, but I want to practice my Japanese so I wanted to run The Sims 4 in Japanese.

I am attaching a video of the issue - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1msyKo29PFxAJIlqBb06Nx38iAsmYtR32/view?usp=sharing

Also, here is a summary of what I tried:

1) The chat support told me to uninstall the game and install it again. I created backup, uninstalled the whole game and checked what install options do I have. Still, there were only  Czech, Polish and Russian. I asked on chat again, and they told me to use the forum...

2) I logged to my EA Account and changed language and region, but it did not help.

3) On the forum here EA_David (COMMUNITY MANAGER) advised that:

"Solution! If you bought a Russian version, English isn't available. You can check what languages are available by going to your local Origin store and checking the product description for Supported Languages. To change a language, change your Origin language then reinstall to change the language.

@HappyNeylian If RU isn't viable for you(i think slovakian/czech are also an option, but I can't confirm that), you can put in for a refund here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/what-s-the-great-games-guarantee/"

I went to Polish EA store and checked available languages. It lists them ALL, so everyone would think they can run the game in any language listed there.

I also compared Standard edition and Digital Deluxe edition, but there is not a single mention regarding languages.

4) I also checked these 'legal' documents mentioned in the checkout such as:

"By clicking “Check out”, you agree to the game's legal disclosures and terms of sale."

...and there is nothing about language region block etc. In the Origin App checkout there is also no language info.

Please help me run the game in Japanese. Thanks!

  • @lesleetussa  This is normal and always how the game has worked.  If you're located in certain countries, you receive the language-locked version of Sims 4.  There's no way around it except to obtain a different copy, likely while having the current base game removed from your account so it doesn't conflict with the new version.

What you could do is download the (now free) game from Steam, which I believe only supplies the global version.  You'd need to uninstall the Origin version first, then download the base game from Steam, then login to Origin (not the EA App yet) and download any packs you own.

  • I spoke on chat to a rep again and they advised that the version I bought is "THE SIMS 4 (CZ PL RU ORIGIN)", but what I actually bought was a bundle of the Base Game + Get To Work. The agent implied I may have not noticed I'm buying a 'limited langauge' version, but literally at no point does Origin show any language availability/limitations.

As a proof, I'm showing bundle ordering process in the screenshots. Also, the base game in the bundle should equal to the base game from the Origin store (since the bundle is on Origin as well) and as explained above in #1 post the Origin store shows that all 18 languages are included.

2 last pictures of the Bundle ordering process (no signs of any language restrictions whatsoever)

@puzzlezaddict Thank you! I was able to download the free base game on Steam and link it to my Origin. I have 2 base games now showing in the library, and I need to open it via Steam to work, but I finally have all languages!

It does work, thanks!!! I can finally, after 8 years, play in French.

Even the expansion packs transfer because to play the Sims on Steam you have to login to your EA account while the game starts :D

    Hi @puzzlezaddict

I have found this thread, checked Steam and found the Steam version - just installing it now!

Do you know how to link Steam and EA? Do both account need to be in the same email adress?

    Thank you,

@eloela94  When you try to launch Sims 4 through Steam, you'll be prompted to link your account to an EA account.  I don't think you need to be using the same email address for both, but I haven't tested this.
