The Sims is being destroyed by greed
Having played the sims for a long time, I was very excited to buy The Sims 4; However there are so many basic things that aren't included in the base game of the Sims 4, that it even captured my attention.
Here's a list of things in previous games that aren't available or are only available by spending and ADDITIONAL 40 or 20 dollars...
Cars
Burglars
Following your sims to work/school
Going to restaurants
Going to the movies
Open world experience
Bookstore
Grocery Stores
Custom color wheel for objects
Repo man
Zodiac signs
Favorite food, color, music
I would even be willing to pay for some of these things, even pets which have been expansions before. But I'm sorry, I'm not willing to spend 40 dollars on a basic thing that people typically have, and to get more stuff for your pets is an additional 20 dollars. Why should DLC packs that only offer basic things add up to be much more than the game itself? Is it really an additional thing just to have seasons? To go to a restaurant? To go to the movies? To have a car?
More people would buy the game if it didn't cost so much for the basic features that have been provided in games before. It seems the only thing I'm paying premium for is the better graphics the game provides.
I would excuse some of these things if the game was new and if some things were still needed to be added for free, but this game is now 4 years old and it seems everything I should reasonably want in a basic game costs hundreds of dollars from DLC. DLC should be enhancement, not something to take advantage of.
This is happening with other games, but nothing like this is as appalling as it is with The Sims Franchise. I would respect this company a lot more if they would just provide the things they used to and enhance it as the games are produced, but the games are only becoming more sparse in content
