Tips to pass University Classes with A+

Tip 1  Classes do not start the first day you enroll depending on when you enroll.  If there is a term in progress your be put in a query to start the next term after the previous term is over.  Check how long til class time will usually give you a good estimate when first day of Term is.  Your get 1 to 3 days depending on when you enroll for the term.

Tip 2 When you enroll you will get your presentation Board and Term Paper and Final assignments these are not linked to classes per say, but linked to if the  class meets on Finals Day.  If you start term on Monday Classes Monday Wednesday and Friday will have finals, classes on Tuesday and Thursday will have presentation or term papers.  If you started term on Wednesday, Finals will be on Tuesday so Tuesday and Thursday classes will have Finals, and Monday Wednesday and Friday classes will have presentation or term paper requirement.

Tip 3 You can do your work ahead of time, but don't turn term paper or presentation in until after term starts or it won't count towards your grade.

Tip 4 If you enroll on Friday or on a Finals day, the game could have already checked your final requirement off, this is a false positive as when term starts on Monday it will clear.  If you enroll on Saturday Term Starts Monday, If you enroll on Sunday Term starts on Monday, if Monday is not a Final from a previous term, than it Starts Tuesday.

Tip 5 go to class early, professors like it if you are punctual, just don't forget to send them to class when it starts, going to class early will just send them to the academic building

Tip 6 Make sure you pick something besides the default if you want good grades, do your homework for each class, grade points are counted by your learning habits if you just go to class your not going to get a good grade, but if you choose active listener or taking notes option when in class and do your homework you can get good grades, make sure you turn in the term paper and presentation board before the semester ends.

Tip 6 Missing the Final of the class can cap your grade and put you on Academic probation.

Tip 7 Getting a grade of C- will put you on Academic probation.

Tip 8 Each Organization has classes that will give extra credit if you join them and are an active member of that Organization.

I hope everyone likes these tips for getting good grades in University, there is one last tip for you research and debate skill when you reach a certain level it will increase the rate at which you do homework and read books.  Also by completing certain goals in certain Organizations the higher the level the more extra credit your get in linked classes along with offering certain benefits while enrolled.

  • @Sid1701d9 These are all great tips! Thanks! I own the DU pack but I've been hesitant to enroll in University due to all the comments I read about players receiving failing grades despite putting in a lot of effort. I keep hoping there will be some tweaks to the system in a future game patch.

So how does this work? Do you have to do all 8 of these tips to get an A+ grade or just a combination of a few of them?

    Thanks again!

@RandomBuzziness, I don't' think you have to get all of them done each time, but getting as many as you can should be your goal.  Every little bit helps!  So, if, for example you are late one time to class, you can always do a little extra studying on your exam to make up for it. 😉

The Research and Debate skill is a skill that will help your study in all classes.  Some classes have that skill as the skill you learn by doing homework for that class, but even in classes that don't highlight that skill, knowing that skill will help you study overall.  😉

Also, if you go to the Library that is located between the 2 universities, and study there, you will get your homework, projects, papers, and studying for exams done at a faster rate! 🙌  This is because that library has the Study Spot lot trait! 🤓 You can also add this trait to the Student Commons if you want, or with the free build cheat you can add it to your dorm (If I'm not mistaken.... I have yet to change the dorms in this way, but it should be available in Build/Buy Mode).

You can also make an offereing at the statue in the quad (the one that gets defaced often) for a boost with grades.  Crystals and excellent quality baked goods are preferred!  But

    Spoiler
this can also get you into the Secret Society, which is both a blessing and a curse! 🤨 There are ways around any negative effects though.  And the positive effects are pretty powerful. 😉

@Sid1701d9  Tip 3.  I routinely get my term papers done, edited and submitted and the presentations done and presented before I ever get the start of term notices.  I have not seen any negative effects from doing it that way.

@RandomBuzziness  Study as much as you can as well as get the term papers and presentations done!  That seems to be a key factor in your grade.  Also use the option to call your professors for a status report as often as you can.  That will give you a clue to which classes you need to work on.

@PugLove888  I missed that on the library.  Thanks.  I have put that trait on the residential lots in Brichester that I use though as well as the two on campus houses (which I converted to residential so I could have a cauldron).  Love those spellcasters and the Plentiful Needs potions!  😃

  • I'm completely confused how the grading system works. Or, maybe there is a bug in the game that causes failing grades?

I have a Sim who completes about 75% of his homework, goes to every class, submits excellent quality term paper, good quality presentations, attends class every time on normal setting, gets the pop-up that he squeezed out every bit of learning from the class, takes the final exam, and he FAILS the classes with an F!?!? Ok now I don't expect him to earn an A. But I also don't expect a failing grade, either.

I've read all kinds of hypothesized reasons for failing grades on the forums. They don't make sense to me and I think there is another cause. Going to the library to study, or setting the attendance to active listening or take notes, shouldn't be the reason a Sim FAILS a class. Not being a level 10 in a related skill shouldn't be a reason to FAIL a class. If a term paper or presentation is submitted before the final day of term, that shouldn't be a reason to FAIL a class. For every post that claims these are reasons, there is another post who says they don't matter.

This is why I'm convinced there is a bug. If not a bug, I am thinking possibly that there might be a minimum skill level required for a class, and that minimum skill level rises for every subsequent class. That might explain why my Sim started with As, and then the last term of 4 classes he got C, D, F, and F.

Or else, the SimGurus could explain how the grading system actually works, if there is some other unknown criteria for passing a class. I'm tired of reading posts where everyone is just guessing at all the reasons for Failing grades.

  • Never go to class on "normal" !! Always take notes

Always complete 100% of homework after every class finishes immediately that day/night

Complete term papers or presentations the day/s before classes even start and then submit them asap when class does start

For reference, I've never had a sim achieve a grade below an A, I've never bought books to study, and I've never had to go anywhere to study (library)

Take only 2 classes at a time
