Two Businesses One Lot

Is it possible to have two businesses on one lot? If I have a cafe and a cooking school on the same lot, can I direct customers to one space if only one of the businesses is open? Or will they wander around any given space?

You can't limit the space for different businesses. They will use the whole space but depending on what the business is, they will only do the interactions that you specify for that business.

  • Sims will be drawn to whatever space has the objects for what is set as the business activity. So my Sim runs a cafe & pottery store on the first floor of the family’s business, and his wife runs music classes on the second floor. The whiteboard and instruments are all upstairs, so while that business is open, customers generally go upstairs and don’t spend too much time downstairs. The cafe bar, tables, food display, and pottery sale shelves are all downstairs, so when that business is open customers rarely go upstairs and don’t generally stay long if they do.

  • If you have an art gallery on one floor and an unrelated business on another, will sims gather in the unrelated business to look at art on the wall there? Or admire other things classified as art?

You can’t actually designate specific rooms to different businesses, so yes, if you have a business with the activity “view art” and you put art everywhere, they will go everywhere.
