Unable to play after update

I have been unable to play since the newest update. My game loads normally but once my saved game loads I can't click on any sim or object. Along with that I can't place anything from build mode. whatever I try to place goes to outside the lot outline and doesn't move from that spot and stays red. I took out all modes and when that didn't help, I repaired the game and also cleared the cashe.  No change. still can't click on sims or objects or place objects from build mode I even started a new game and still the same. I can't think of anything else to do. can anyone help?
