Unable to Research Emotions

I have the get famous pack. My sim is an actress. When attempting to research emotions for roles, it does NOT work. Whatever emotion i try to research is constantly overshadowed by focused moodlets. How do i fix this and why is this happening?

Well the surface answer is to avoid those focused moodlets, but I know that’s not much help if you don’t know where they’re coming from. Can you hover over them and tell us which focus moodlets specifically your sim is getting?
