I have tried 3 times to visit a bar on a Wednesday to be able to finish the Grim quest but Ghost Night doesn't trigger? I tried Rattlesnake bar, Willowcreek bar and Chestnut Ridge. I've also tried different times of night with different sims. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm kinda stuck 🤷🏻♀️
@liseylooloo I went to the bar in Sulani. First time I did not have any ghost trigger, though I stayed until very late. My understanding is that it technically 'starts' at 7 or 8pm (?), but they don't seem to show up until a varied amount of time after that. I didnt' wait a week, I just went at about 8pm, and if the ghost didn't show, I exited without saving and tried again. I think two times out of 4three I had a ghost appear, and each of those times the ghost was different. I had someone suggest clicking on the reaper quest thing at the left of the screen, and that doing that triggered it for her. (For me, that didn't trigger a ghost or the completion notice.). I think the sectond time I entered I got a popup notice that my quest was complete... either immediately or shortly... and then the ghost appeared shortly after that. One of the ghosts appeared shortly after 8pm or 9pm for me, and the other time the ghost didn't appear until my sim had been in the bar for a while and I was about to give up. The time the ghost appeared later I was about to leave the lot and try a different bar, and there it was, so I didn't need to. I don't know if any of that is useful? I guess all of that to say it's possible there is some variance?
I've now tried every bar on the map , every Wednesday and different times of the evening and still no ghost night 🤷♀️🤷♀️ to be honest I'm bored of it now. I don't know why EA does these quests, as in my experience they never work correctly!!
@liseylooloo I'm so sorry! That really stinks! I have chatted with friends about your issue, and apparently there's a mod by Bienchen that does this, plus MCCC settings. And there may be others. So... if you now or recently had mods, you could try closing your game, moving your mods folder to your desktop, delete the localthumbcache file, and then only enter a brand new save, and trigger the event there. This should get the event task to show as completed on your account after close the game, re-add your mods folder, and re-enter your previous game save.
I'm having this issue as well. I never have my sims go to bars (The throwing an event with tasks was bad enough for me. Only three people were available and my sim didn't get along with 2 of them. Those same two just ate dinner when called and sat around until it was over like they showed up out of politeness.) And the ghost night not triggering, (I didn't know about the after 8 pm thing until I googled it. It should be included in the description.), is turning me off to sending my sims to bars and doing events even more. Now I have to wait until the following Wednesday for the next ghost night because it's already 2 am in my game and he needs to go home to his son who is home alone.
@simgirl542 Did you read the two replies I added above to see if any of that information was helpful to what you're seeing in your game? (Responses #2 and #4 on this thread.)
If I were you I would either try recovering back to your last save that was close to Wednesday to re-try on the Wednesday you just tried on, if that doesn't mean losing any important progress &/or time investment in your game, or play through until the next in-game Wednesday, make a save to your game on Wednesday, late afternoon or early evening, then play through, with the things I mentioned above in mind, and see if you can get the ghost to appear and the event task to complete. If it doesn't work, leave your game save without saving, and re-enter at the save point you made before trying (late afternoon/early evening on Wednesday). In the next try, maybe visit a bar (make sure the lot is designated as a bar) in a different world.
Also, click on the event requirements to make sure the task is still showing as incomplete. For me, on one of my attempts I must have had a ghost appear that I didn't see or for whatever reason, and the task did complete on the list. So... when I went back in to try again and finally saw a ghost I didn't see a completion of the task happen because it was already completed.
@VampiressAshley Sorry to hear that. Btw, did you remove the whole Mods folder to your desktop and delete the localthumbcache file? If not, you could try that way (directions in spoiler). You could also try, after removing those, to run a game repair. If you did all of this then restarted in a brand new game save you could try taking a sim in that save to a bar after 8 on Wednesday. No matter what save you're in in your game, you will get credit on your account for completing the reaper tasks, so if you got it to complete in that new, vanilla save, you should find that it's completed when you go back to your current save.
Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring.
Sims 4 Ghost night is just not triggering for the final goal of the reaper event; I have tried multiple bars, always after 8pm on wednesday then even tried other days as well in case it affected it, following many reddit posts with people having the same issue I have tried going with a single sim and groups, buying drinks for them and meals but nothing is triggering the event success.
