@jasminewessien Mechanical Engineering is a branch of the engineering degree. If you have a physics degree you can directly choose that branch (level 7) hence getting the bonus you need. If you choose engineering, your basically choosing the base career, hence no bonus.

Do you get the option for Mechanical Engineering from the job list ?

  • @jasminewessien Which degree and job are you in ? The list should both offer the base version of the career but if you scroll down further you also see the ones for the branch you can do.

If that's not your issue, please make sure to test this without mods/cc installed.
  • My sim got a physics Degree with honors and applied for an engineering job . The degree had no effect on the job .

@jasminewessien You should have both the engineering career and Mechanical Engineer as an option to choose when you choose a job. Just scroll down a bit to choose mechanical engineering.
  • I don’t think you understood what I wrote. I do have the option to choose engineering but with a degree in physics I should get a bonus and start on a higher level of the job . But the degree is having providing none of these as though my sim did not attend university

@jasminewessien What kind of mods have you been using then ? Have you tested without it ? Do you have a save you can test without mods where the sim hasn't graduated ?
  • hi Thank you for your previous point . I realize you’re right the careers appear double and one has a higher level . Thank you
