venue speaker stops playing music when someone plays instrument

I built a recreation center in evergreen harbor and one of the requirements is having instruments on the lot, as well as a stereo. I chose a wall speaker (Americana) but the speaker stops playing music as soon as someone plays an instrument. The instruments are in a separate room, but I have a feeling this is by design. Which would be very silly... but maybe someone knows if this is actually by design or a bug? Other wall venue speakers have the same issue. (no mods, no cc ever)
