You can only edit units that you are the tenant of. Additionally if a wall leads to a shared space or another unit you can not delete it.
Thanks for replying! I've been trying to add walls outside of the building and am playing as the landlord. Also, I tried playing around with regular lots and it works for a while, but after some time, I end up having the same issues.

To have access to the entire lot for editing for a residential rental venue, you have to go to build mode from the map. And the lot has to be unowned and unoccupied. There are some things you can do as either a tenant or a landlord, but you are limited to the space assigned to the active apartment and shared. When you go to build from live mode, if a wall is shared by 2 apartments, you can't delete or move it. You can change the wall paint on one side but not the other. You can move apartment walls when the apartment is occupied by stretching the room so long as it doesn't affect another apartment. You can even "steal" shared space by stretching an apartment wall into it and then adding a new divider wall inside the apartment space. You can also redesignate shared or the active apartment rooms as the other. So, lots of things you can do and some you can't. As far as trying to build a wall outside of the existing building, I haven't tried that so idk whether that can be done by going to build from live mode. You should have no problem doing it if you go to build from the map with the lot unowned and unoccupied.
Hope this helps.
