Solved

Weekly rewards always marked as new

The problem started when I tried to solve another issue where premade faces and skintones in CAS always being marked as "Contains new items" when editing a played household. I saw that a solution to this was to remove a file called "ReticulatedSplinesView" which would reset the items. However, after deleting the file, all rewards from weekly rewards are always marked as new, both in CAS and in build/buy mode. The *new* marking resets after switching category. Placing the items down or clicking on the item doesn't work. I've tried to start the game without mods, deleted localthumbcache, and have also repaired my game, but the issue persists. Also, the faces and skintones in CAS are still marked as "Contains new items", so I guess I might've done something wrong when deleting ReticulatedSplinesView. Possible solutions appreciated!

  • @crinrict I tried what you suggested (I think at least haha). I was a bit unsure on if I found all the .exe files so I added the whole x86 and documents The Sims 4 folder to exception. When I loaded the game the issue still persisted. I did however come up with a solution to my problem: I simply recovered the old ReticulatedSplinesView file from the trash and added it back. My game now has no items marked as *new*, and oddly enough the faces and skintones aren't marked as having new items either.

  • @MintyFreshSims No, you didn't do anything wrong. That file is just a cache file of sorts and nothing bad happens when you delete it.

It's possible that something is blocking the file though.

What security software are you using ?

@crinrict I have the standard Windows security. Might the firewall or something be preventing the file from working correctly? The file seems to have been recreated succesfully. I was thinking of trying to remove ReticulatedSplinesView again and follow up with a game repair, but I'm unsure if that would even do anything?

@MintyFreshSims If anything it might be the ransomware protection. Make sure to add all the exes of Sims 4 as an exception to Windows Defender Ransomeware protection.

@MintyFreshSims Interesting. Maybe the exception did help.

I wouldn't add whole folders though.

    Add these
    - <your installation folder>\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_DX9_x64
    - <your installation folder>\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_Launcher_x64
    - <your installation folder>\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64
