Where can I find the ghost of my pet

I had a household with one sim, 2 dogs and 4 cats.
I decided I wanted to play with another household for a while and my new sim befriended my old sim.
When she went to visit the old sim and her pets, I noticed that all 6 of the pets were sick. I'm so mad at my old sim for not taking care of them!
Anyway, I changed household for a little while, just to take the pets to the vet and then continued playing with the new household.
The minute my new sim came back from the hospital after having her baby, I got a notification that the ghost of one of the dogs was fading away. So I left my newborn and rushed over to the old sim's house to keep her spirit connected. When I got there I was welcomed by the ghost of the dog that I got a notification about but I noticed not one but 2 urns. Apparently both dogs died. The ghost of the second dog is nowhere to be found. I let my new sim interact with the ghost that was there and clicked on both urns to "keep the ghost connected" (or whatever it's called in English). I got this option on both urns so I figured the ghost of the second dog must also be hanging around somewhere.
Switched households again and made my old sim do the same and bring the ghost dog back to life. I also sent her to the pet graveyard two nights in a row but the second ghost is nowhere to be found. I had her wait up for several nights now, some at home and some at the graveyard, with no luck. I'm making her grieve the urn several times a day/night but that doesn't seem to help. The urn still has the option "send spirit to netherworld" so I definitely did not click that. Is the ghost of my dog gone forever or do I just have to wait longer and try harder? I really want to bring him back but I don't know how if I can't find his ghost ☹️
Does anyone know the answer or maybe something I haven't tried yet? I've looked all over the internet and can't really find an answer.
Thanks! (and sorry for the long post)

  • You could try adding the haunted lot trait to your house but the only the only thing is I am unsure to whether that works on pets but give it a try.

@anneke33 Does the dog show up with that family if you check them in Manage Households?

I admit I don't have much experience with ghosts as I disable aging for pets. I've recently lost two pets in real life and I am not about to go thru that in Sims!

@RandomBuzziness No, he doesn't show up ☹️ I guess I've lost him ☹️ Although his name is still on his urn (I read that the name dissapears when they are culled, don't know if that's true) and the option to send his spirit to the netherworld is also still there.
I changed one of the lot traits to haunted and a ghost turned up on the first night. It wasn't my dog though.

I'm sorry for your loss ☹️ I know how you feel, we lost one of our dogs and our cat recently & had a very close call with our second dog but fortunately she pulled through.
Which is why I really want to get that dog back in my game, he was a very good boy 🙂
I'm quite upset with myself for forgetting to disable aging when I left to play with a new household.

And just like that, I'm not playin Sims but just watching it, afraid to do anything, in case he turns up and I miss it because my sim was doing something else. She's just hanging out right next to his urn all the time. In regular speed, I'm too afraid to fast forward. She'll probably lose her job but I don't even care about that at this point.

  • Update:

It took some waiting and a lot of grieving but I've got him back! His ghost finally showed up :D He's alive again and I gave him a treat to make him a healthy adult again just to be sure!
I'm never going to forget to disable aging ever again, haha. Lesson learned!

    ‘Tis a fearful thing
to love what death can touch.

    A fearful thing
to love, to hope, to dream, to be –

    to be,
    And oh, to lose.

I am so happy you got your pet back! :D

I even back-up my save and tray files on an external drive so I don't have to worry about losing any of my furry little Sim pet buddies if my laptop croaks.

Oh what a wonderful, and true, poem!

Thank you! I'm happy too! My boyfriend even looked at me like I was crazy because I was just sitting here, grinning like -well- crazy, haha :D

Oh!! That's an awesome idea! I'm going to do the same thing, just in case! Thanks for helping me think of that :D
