@LonaBoom I think this is all part of the way the game creates its NPC's. I have seen this occur more than once. It will definitely happen with Sims that are a integral part of the game. Each time you start a new game Eliza Pancakes appears together with Bob and over time they can be separated or even die. You can even keep them as ghosts.
I play a rotational game with a lot of Sims (over 140 at this moment) and when I play a certain family/household they encounter members of other families/households in their daily activities.
For instance, one of my male Sims is a scientist, an Extraterrestrial Explorer, but when I play the Sim, who is an Apprentice Inventor, and I follow her to work the male Sim is a sitting receptionist. When I take this apprentice inventor to a Geek-Con, the male Sim is in disguise or wearing a Llama suit.
In the picture Eliza seems a young adult so you would still be able to try for a degree. By the way i have noticed on the screenshot that Bob has changed a bit too. 😎
So I guess there is nothing to worry about.
