So I have the cats and dogs pack and play with it a lot. I have had multiple sims who own pets. In two of my save files I’ve had pets die and sims who really loved them and who would definitely want to plead for them. First time I assumed it was a glitch and just let my sim befriend her pet again as a ghost and re-adopt them.second time however I had a alien sim who had almost no one in her life but her cat. I knew she would never let her cat go without a fight and again clicked to have her plead. I got the usual “don’t plead with death before reaping lest you be reaped” message that you get when you are waiting to plead so I was like great I can plead. But the option wouldn’t appear and grim reaped her cats soul without her even being allowed to try plead for him.so is this intentional? And if so why can’t we plead for pets the same way we can for sims? The mechanics are already in the game so we honestly should be able to plead for our pets. Like pleading doesn’t always work but it’s nice to try! Why can’t my pets be saved/spared from death too?

@simsplayer818 , FYI, some Simmers have made "rooms" with special items in them that are hard to get in the game, like ambrosia, death flowers, death flower plants, etc. The one in particular that I know of who does this is @SheriGR ! Here is a link to her Ambrosia room (since you specifically mentioned that Ambrosia takes a long time to gain the cooking skill and track down the items, though I think she also has posted rooms with those individual items as well if you have a Sim with high cooking skill. ) The Sims - The Gallery - Official Site (ea.com)Yes, the Ambrosia Pet Treat is a must, as several others have mentioned!!!! 🥰

@PugLove888 That's exactly what I used to do in Sims 3 pets. I had a room saved with the unlocked items from the challenges, a ghost zapper and all kinds of collectables, favourite lizards and creations that I'd use as a starting point for my new builds.I'd do the same in Sims 4 but adding pre made rooms causes...yet another bug which I think is linked to the problems I've had trying to use the gallery.So instead I add them to retail lots either for free, like the jungle poison antidote or to buy, like death flowers and herbal/jungle remedies. My garden centre also has rare trees and plants to harvest for free. I added a magical store in Strangerville with items from my Wiccan and some Eco Living based stores too...while remembering to snuff out all the candles so customers weren't buying melted wax lol.When I can get back into my game without the infernal crashing, I'll add some Ambrosia to my Wiccan's magical store too as it's daft you need 2 people to use the death flowers now. I'm shut out of my game right now as it's crashing uncontrollably so I couldn't check.There were different critters to collect in Sims 3 and Sims 3 Pets. My particular favourites were small lizards to find when out collecting that you could keep in terrariums. If I remember right, I think snakes were on the PC version.Buttercup Rattlebag was an adorable friendly little white dog in Sims 3 Pets who belonged to an old man... I'd befriend him just to move her to my household!

I'm assuming I could summon the pet but they couldn't read it to restore their own lives (LOL), but again, I haven't tried.I've also never tried to Dedeathify a pet. I do know that you can't Dedeathify a child, which also makes me very sad. (I ended up using ambrosia with the child.)

@maddinwritestuff This is why I keep a couple of save games and then exit if there is an accidental fatality. So it's like it never happened. It doesn't stop the problem happening but I shut it down and get the lost character back.
I'm worse about animals than I am about people. I know they're not real but still can't deal with it!

@simsplayer818 I also try keep multiple saves but honestly it gets to be a lot of work. Plus going back feels like cheating and I do like consequences in my gameplay. I just feel like it’s annoying and unfair that I can’t try save my pets the way you can do a sim. Like there are so many ways to stop grim from taking a sim (pleading, voodoo and death flower) so why can’t I do it for my pets? Granted I haven’t tried voodoo or death flowers for pets so maybe that does work…? Idk I just want to plead for my pets the way I do for sims. It’s like giving the game a little chance roll to try bring them back to life. It kinda helps me decide wether or not they are truly dead you know? I just don’t get why it isn’t an option when we can totally do it for sims.

@maddinwritestuff I think you might be able to give them Ambrosia...but I'm not 100% on that. Plus it's a lot of work if your Sim has to skill up to make Ambrosia, it took me a couple of Sim weeks for one of my Sims to save her friend and she had a sad ghost bestie for a while till she finally got there.
I don't know if Spellcasters may be able to help too with a dedeathify spell possibly, just throwing out ideas.
But yes, it should be possible to plead for pets. In Sims 3 a pet (the legendary Buttercup Rattlebag) pleaded for my Sim (but nobody could say no to that little face) and they were spared.

@simsplayer818 Love that you’re offering all these ideas. All of them are pretty great things worth trying. I’m pretty sure there might even be an ambrosia treat for pets from the vet..?
Still I’m gonna leave this forum open to see if I can one day get the sims team to notice it. We need to be able to plead for our sims fur babies lol
buttercup rattlebag sounds awesome too. (Never played the sims 3 but I know there were snakes? Were they a snake?)

@simsplayer818 haha I can relate to being shut out of your game. I’m scared to open mine because of how annoyed I’ve been at losing whims to the new broken wants and fears system. The fears are so shallow and annoying and the wants are broken and annoying too. I hate how I can’t refresh them like you could with whims (without sleeping or buying that want refresher thing). Also hate how they only cover base game. My game’s been kinda broken since it forced me to get the high school stories patch (I tried to avoid updating but the game made me come off offline mode to login to origin eventually so it forced me to update). I am so annoyed that the patch was forced on me. I really just want to go back to playing with my whims, vampires and werewolves in peace. Plus that stupid incest bug was mega creepy and put me off both my families that had kids in them.
buttercup rattlebag sounds adorable. I’d consider trying sims 3 if I hadn’t wasted so much money on sims 4. I really don’t wanna give anymore money to ea till they fix all this.

@maddinwritestuff Absolutely agree with you. I've not been able to even try the Wants and Fears addition yet as it crashes every 4 to 5 mins to my console home screen. Played over 20 years and never known anything like it.
So here's hoping it's being worked on for all of us. We're a pretty devoted fan base...we must be!

I don't think Dedeathify not working on kids is a bug. I think it's "you can't cast spells on children" and this includes Dedeathify. ☹️
I just dug through my Discord and apparently you can't Necrocall a pet, and I ended up buying an ambrosia treat for Rosie Hecking in one save... so I'm pretty sure you can't Dedeathify pets.
