These features are disabled in my game :
- EP09 Eco Lifestyle :
- NPC Voting : It's nice to be able to influence the neighbors but the players have no control on the rest of the worlds. The issue is when Sharing Is Caring NAP is picked, venues become unusable (restaurant without table and chair).
- Eco Footprint Gameplay : Because it's impossible to get a permanent Industrial Eco Footprint.
- EP16 Lovestruck :
- Gallery Sims in Cupid's Corner : This feature was broken at launch.
- EP09 Eco Lifestyle :

The first one which springs to mind is the dust system from Bust The Dust kit. I like to have my sims do their hoovering now and again and would love to have the occasional grimy and dusty household but the last time I turned it on the sims were still doing that constant annoying sniffing thing where they sniff the wonderful clean air every time they go up or downstairs. So over the top.
Also, a feature I would absolutely love to use is the shoe removal sign. I hate seeing sims wearing shoes inside as we take out shoes off at the door irl, but that terrible animation for removing the shoes really is totally OTT. I did use the mod for it at one point, a long time ago, which removed the animation and it was great because they would just discreetly end up not wearing shoes when crossing the threshold, but I have kept my game mod-free for a good while now.

- Spoiling and draining. Spoiling fish and food, and crystal charge draining is just too much to keep up along with everything else in the game. So I made some tuning mods to turn it off.
- Lock skills. I hate it when my Sim learns a skill I didn't want them to, once I found a mod that locks skills including ones you haven't learn yet—I got it. It isn't a perfect mod as it still announces every time you were to learn a skill and since you never learn it it repeats the notification, my skills are clean list each a different selection for each of my Sims.
- If Get Famous could turn off Reputation, I'd probably buy it. I know you can turn off Fame but with reputation in the same UI section, it would just look incomplete—so I rather a full opt out.

The NPC voting on NAPs. There are specific NAPs that if I could just delete them (I'm looking at Sharing is Caring!) I would, but since I can't, I just disable the NPCs from being able to enact anything.
And yes, the Dust. I love the concept and sometimes I'll still activate it, but I once had a house that I made a small attic for storage chests (I was just dragging and dropping things into them to keep my sim's inventory clear) and the dust built up and fires galore. If I could deactivate fires from dust (maybe there's a mod for that but I don't play with mods anymore), I would turn the feature back on.
I also turn off weather effects on sims during wintertime. Mainly because I was sick of foolish NPCs freezing to death. 😂 I turn it back on whenever winter is over.
I also opt out of the celebrity system unless I'm specifically playing a sim that I want to build that career with. I had too many writers and artists that were getting famous for their side-hustle to be realistic.

For in-game systems that can be adjusted:
I turned off Lifestyles; I like the idea but they seem pointless and don't add anything but annoyances. They also seem to trigger for the wrong things sometimes, like a gardener sim with the Loves the Outdoors trait getting the Indoorsy lifestyle.
There are so many systems now that are intended to add flavor or customize sim behavior, and I think that's great. But they sometimes seem to contradict each other or fail to complement each other to a degree that's just frustrating. However, there's so many at this point that picking and choosing among them is viable.
For in-game systems that can't be adjusted:
I modded out relationship decay years ago and never looked back.
Neighborhood Stories
I don't want anything happening in my game that I don't directly control.- Lavsm8 days agoRising Traveler
I love the seasons but have never played with the temperature effects on because I try to avoid deaths in my game. I pretty much always turn off wants/fears because they can't be cancelled. (Also I would prefer if they were two separate things.)
This topic made me realize that I turn a lot of options off. 😆 Glad we have those choices.

I turned off
- neighbourhood stories: the idea is nice but I like control over the sims in my game. I turned of aging for unplayed sims as well. I like some families to remain constant
- Wishes and fears: I like wishes but hate the fears. Two separate toggles would have been better (mods can help)
- Burglars: after a decade of no burglars I have gotten used to sims' homes being safe
- Temperature effects on sims: I like sims to be safe, especially if visitors can die as well
- Fame: it is well done but I have no interest in this theme. I would not have bought get famous without this option to turn off fame. I wish repu could be turned off as well
- Lifestyles: the concept is interesting but somehow I don't like it
- NAP voting: NAP cause chaos. They are badly implemented
- Getting fired (growing together) I prefer a more wholesome world where people don't loose their jobs
- Balance: I actually like the balance system but this is the only way to reduce ailments a bit. If ailments had a separate option, this would be back on
Features I would instantly turn off if I could. Some can be fixed with mods thankfully.
- constant phone addiction testing a mod free game after an update is a nightmare. Sims can't even have a single conversation without disrespectfully preferring their phone over other sims. Even rampaging werewolves use their phone.
- Child dilemmas (parenthood) I wish I could turn off the pop ups that influences children's character values. A simple x in the top corner of each question would be enough
- Hair growth: I really wish I could turn the entire system off, not sim per sim and repeating this over and over and over for every sim I create
- Burn outs: over time they are just a nuisance
- Ailments: I knew before I got the pack that I wouldn't like them. Ailments are the price to pay to get fairies.

Neighbourhood stories. I am a rotational player, and although I can pick and choose which family is under the influence of this feature, I never desired to finetune it. Perhaps if it gave more detailed, less invasive options, I'd be more interested. A MCCC lite version (I don't always get MCCC either).
NAP voting. I've turned this feature off real quickly, due to people stealing from community lots and breaking them. Or they're wearing bags on their heads, which I honestly detest. For my new save I'm turning it back on again, with the intent to actively discourage NAPs I don't want. I would love it if NAP voting would expand with new expansion packs though, to give neighbourhoods a more unique flavour. NAPs as they are right now just aren't very satisfying to play around with sadly.
Social Bunny. I turn it off for all adults, because it's weird (and a bit creepy) to have them on such a juvenile app. Only teens get to be on it. I do wish there was a means to turn it off by default.
Hair growth. I am fairly annoyed at having to shave arms and legs - I only use it for beards.
Limit Occult Sims outside their respective homeworlds. I love occults and create them all the time. I think about 80 percent of the sims I create are occult (and I want more different occults :D). But I also like for them to be a little bit more subdued when they're not in their element and among strangers. This way they appear in their human form instead when they roam the world.

- NPC voting-I like the idea but it doesn’t work for me
- Fears and wants- I just find them annoying in practice. But again, I do like the idea of them. I sometimes turn them on. Especially when we have a new pack. But eventually it gets turned off.
- Fame- get famous is such a well done pack. But I hate it. I have no use for it in my game. I turn off fame. When I play with mods, I have a mod for the paparazzi and for celebrities, not to spawn on lots. Only pack I wish I did not own. The only thing I use from the pack is a couple of CAS items. I had fun, playing my celebrity save. The career is great. But it’s just not for me. Still mad we never got anymore afterschool activities after this pack.
- Eco footprint- doesn’t Work how I want. The coughing is annoying.
- Lifestyles- I wish this was something I loved it. But it’s not something they add to. And it’s a little half baked.. This is one. I sometimes have on sometimes have off.
