:: Question - How Do I Fabricate a Rug? ::

The sim I'm currently playing is in the Freelancer career and she picked a gig to make a rug. This is the first time I've ever tried out the actual gameplay for Eco Lifestyles and I'm clueless on how to do it.

Is there something else I need to do besides gather Bits and Pieces? I had her dumpster dive and recycle some stuff, and she got some bits and pieces, she also bought some dye (wasn't sure if that was only for candles or not, so I went ahead and had her buy some).

Am I misunderstanding the cost? It shows this:

  • @Starfree Honestly I don't remember. I think so, but it could have been either from the phone or PC (I know I have mods installed that allow you to purchase more stuff through either of those and I do know that I looked to see if "bits and pieces" were an option to just purchase, so it's possible that I saw the dyes and purchased them that way, but I can't really remember. So it's quite possible it didn't go to my inventory because of the mods).
  • ** UPDATE **

    So, it turns out that I am just a big dummmmeh! Like @Ellupelluellu and @WildIrishBanshee said, I was clicking the wrong thing. I did indeed need to click the rug and then again the plain regular non-colored rug.

    I was finally able to fabricate the rug (after 3 tries! I didn't think it was working because nothing showed up in my inventory. And I thought maybe you didn't actually "complete" the rug the first time you tried to fabricate it.)

    So I wasted more and more Bits and Pieces by fabricating again and again, and it still didn't show up in my inventory. Or my household inventory. But I was able to send it to the client for approval from the computer and it gave me a list of items I could choose from, there were 3 rugs there!

    So, I definitely have a mod that is interferring with my inventory. Now I get the fun task of trying to figure out which one it is!

    But, I thank you all for your help!
  • Glad you solved it, or mostly, @Chicklet453681 :)
    Fabrications can fail sometimes but usually when it fails you get covered in bright paint splotches :) it's not just that the item fails to appear.
  • Hi Chicklet! Tips for Eco, if you have restaurants, bars, clubs, I go around and place a dumpster behind every single one, then make one of the lot traits recycle. My sim goes around and dumpster dives all of them. There are some really good stuff that your sim can get. huge tvs, gaming mats, expensive appliances including lots of bits and pieces. If your sim is a freelancer, the more she fabricates, the more variety she will be able to make. A very lucrative business. I also made recycle lots, like the Elixirs and Brews, and put a recycler outside.

    You can also recycle items out of sims' inventories, personal and household...makes for many bits and pieces. Good luck!

    Edit to say, if you want to go whole hog and become a civil engineer, you can even fabricate meals on the fabricator. :)
