Rarely. It's not even as fast as I'd like it to be unless everyone is asleep or at work or school, and even then, it goes back to Speed 1 when someone gets a text or a visitor, or something at the mailbox. It's very annoying, but I can see why that's necessary for people who don't want to miss those things. I always put it back on manually in those situations.
Otherwise, it amazes me how much time I'll spend just watching my Sim do the same thing over and over, or sit there reading a book or watching a computer. No other game I play is like this. I don't stop moving my Pokemon PC to watch them idle for a few minutes. Only in the Sims do I have that kind of patience. It's whacked.
