9 key is not moving objects up instead it is extremely zooming out

I am in build mode with the move objects cheat turned on. I pressed the 9 key and instead of moving an object up, the camera extremely zooms out of the lot.

Has this cheat changed? If yes, what is the new cheat to move objects off.
If no, why is this happening?

I'm not sure what causes it but I run into the same issue occasionally.
I just use ctrl+9 and ctrl+0 instead and it works well ?
  • I ask this as a "make sure it's plugged in" level of troubleshooting but - double check that you're on the Sims 3 camera. I can never get the 9 cheat to work using the sims 4 camera.
  • I posted this a long time ago in the "Things you didn't know thread" but I'll copy paste it here for you. :)

When you try to use MOO (bb.moveobjects on) does the camera suddenly fly away instead of moving your objects up or down? Does MOO only work by holding down the ctrl key with 9 or 0? Have you used ctrl 9 or ctrl 0 to save a camera position for taking screenshots or making a video? If yes, here's how to fix it so you can again use 9 or 0 without the ctrl key when using MOO.

    1. Open your TS4 folder by going to Documents > Electronic Arts >The Sims 4
    2. Look for a folder called VideoCameraStates and open it.
    3. Inside you should see a file with a picture of a cog on it named VideoCameraStates. It's a configuration file.
    4. Open the file. If you've set any camera positions, they will be listed inside.
    5. If you don't care to save them, (perhaps you did it accidentally or you no longer need them) delete the entire folder. The game will generate a new empty one the next time you open your game.
    6. If you'd like to keep these camera positions, copy the folder and save it somewhere safe until you need it again. Just drop the contents into the newly generated folder.

Voila! That's it! You can now simply use the 9 key to raise an object or the 0 key to lower it without using the ctrl key whenever you want to use MOO! :)
  • For me it only works when I use ctrl+9. I play on sims 3 camera style.

My camera jumps when I try to scale objects up or down. But in my case it is caused by my keyboard, in my country keyboards are slightly different from the standard US keyboard. Changing keyboard settings solved this issue for me, but also scrambles a few letters so I only change it while I am building.

Sorry for the late response. I always use Sims 3 camera. I'll check it again in a couple of days, editing some TS2 video and playing TS2 for my storytelling right now,
  • Karababy52, you are my hero! I somehow had a camera state saved for 9. I still can't get 0 to work, but that's ok because I can just start by placing items too low and move them up. Thank youuuu!

my folder is still there with all the camera positions....
