Since others wonder what those text messages say about their grades, here you go:
Day 1
0-101 Well, unfortunately, it’s too early to say. Stay on top of your homework, and I'll see you in class.
Day 2
35-101 It's still early, but you've already shown that you can get ahead. Keep it up with the homework, attendance, and studying!
15-35 You’re doing fine! Stay on top of your homework, and I'll see you in class.
0-15 I honestly would have hoped for a bit more progress from you at this point, but you still have plenty of time to turn it around. Come to lectures with completed homework, and maybe spend a bit more time studying.
Day 3
55-101 You are doing exceptionally well, considering that we've still got a few days left in the term. Keep it up and you'll get top marks.
35-55 You’re doing fine! Stay on top of your homework, and I'll see you in class.
15-35 I'd say that you've fallen a bit behind the class average, but it's nothing a bit of studying, attendance, and attention to homework can't solve.
0-15 I'm worried that you haven't been putting the time or care into this class that it requires. You really need to buckle down if you want a good grade.
Day 4
75-101 You are doing quite well! Finish up whatever work you may have left this term and I'm sure your grade will reflect the hard work you've put in.
55-75 You’re doing fine! Stay on top of your homework, and I'll see you in class.
35-55 You're tracking a bit below average right now, and there isn't all that much time left. Finish strong and you should have nothing to worry about.
0-35 I'm worried. You should have a better grasp of the material by now and your work has been lacking. If you want to pass this class, you need to set aside some time for studying these last few days of the term.
Day 5
95-101 You're a stellar student and have one of the highest grades in my class! I wish more of my students were as committed as you were to mastering the material.
75-95 You put in a solid term and have earned a solid grade. Any additional academic work you've still got to do will help, but your grade is certainly satisfactory.
60-75 You have a passing grade, so if that's all you need, you're good to go. If you have any remaining work or time to commit to the class, though, there is indeed room for improvement.
45-60 Your grades are on the cusp of failure, so I'd encourage you to take whatever time and work you have left in this course and focus your efforts if you want to pass this class.
0-45 There's not much of this course left and I think you have a very good chance of failing it. I'm not sure what else to tell you at this point, other than to try to do more work earlier next time.
You need 60 points to pass and 93 points to get a degree with honors.
