I know James Turner, formally known as the Sim Supply, created something and has a lot on his website. Convenient tools. I, however, used to save it all locally via Word/spreadsheet/photoshop pictures for the family tree, goals, and whatnot.
I also free-formed a lot of my legacy playthroughs, letting whatever happened happen. No shade to the game, but all the tools within the Sims 4 are... not good lmao.- charmednmissouriSeasoned Veteran
I personally can't follow the rules when it comes to legacy challenges, so thank you for the tip about James Turner's website.

I use a notebook too. It's a habit I got into when I played Sims 2 and I just stuck with it.

I use everything. 😅 I don't follow any legacy or challenge rules, and I'm not a big notetaker, but I'll occasionally write things down in a notebook or spreadsheet. If I'm really into it, I prefer to use a spreadsheet in Excel or Google Sheets.
I currently track birthdays, finances, and plants manually. For traits and things like that, I intend to just datamine(?) it from the game by exporting a file (text document) about my Sims with all of their info.

I'm like you and usually use a notebook or a tracker that comes with the challenge. I wouldn't have a clue how to even make a spreadsheet 😅

Haha good old pen and paper never fails! It's also kinda cute going back through it ages later (I'm a bit of a hoarder haha). I've made a spreadsheet tracker for my Astrology Challenge but that was so hard, I want to replicate it for my others for people to use but it is tricky 😂

I created my own charts, if you wish to call them that. I played Pinstar's Legacy Challenge and there simply was no way I was going to remember what achievements I accomplished. You play until the tenth generation Heir is born. But even so that takes a lot of time. It's just a matter of figuring out how best you can log what you've done for the 'rules' of the challenge you're playing. Best of luck and Happy Simming!

I use a spreadsheet lol.

I tried Notion but it's hard to use. I tried Wordpress but it's glitchy and apparently has security issues. I tried numerous family tree sites all with their own pitfalls. What has worked well is tracking with notepad.

I'm not too big on rules set by someone else. I often simply use those as inspiration and then tweak to fit my play style.
I still have this old ring folder that I used in Sims 2 times to put in my handwritten notes. I also have floorplans drawn on squared paper, also from those times. I think also have some ideas for Sims Medieval written down in a notebook somewhere.
I usually use spreadsheets now. Tracking things on PC is just a lot more convenient now. I got a second monitor about 5 years ago and it's just a lot easier. Besides, ctrl+f is a lot quicker if you need to find something specific.
I'm currently planning a bachelor challenge with one of my sims and I have this massive spreadsheet with the entire planning. I also have several spreadsheets for setting up a new save file (which I've restarted several times now). One for population, one for community lots, one with screenshots of all the worlds where I've numbered all the lots, etc.

I too use a notebook. I have to keep track of everything or I get lost on who is who after awhile.
