A Smaller Save

I'm currently at a point in my current save where i'm at a writers block for stories. As i wrote my sim self out as the main character in my 2013 save, i'm beginning to wonder how long i can keep this current save up. I've been playing this save since 2021 (in real life)

Here's a brief roundup of my sim self's life so far:

He's had 14 children over four marriages.

His first wife Liberty Lee divorced him after almost ten years of marriage.

He married again in my 1989 save to his second wife Elena. They divorced in my 1993 save.

In my 1995 save he married for a third time. Wife number three died from laughter in my 2003 save.

My sim self married his current partner in my 2008 save and are still together in my 2014 save.

My sim self was the main character for many saves until my 2013 save.

He has a lot of grandchildren who are in their adult life or approaching adult life.

I've been thinking about doing some kind of reboot with my sim self. On the old sims 4 forums, you never saw anything from his birth up to young adult hood. If i were to do a reboot, it would be a much smaller save and will attempt to follow the direction my real life has gone in.

So i guess my question is, are smaller saves better to manage rather than rotational saves like my current save?

  • I'd say yes, smaller saves are easier to manage. But, as an avid rotational player, I find them much more boring. I think you're quite brave to be contemplating a real life sim-self game as this is something I tried once, found horrendous and never repeated.

elliebreton I used to be able to complete each new sim year with in a month in real time which is how i got from 1979 to 2014. I also play on long life span as i want as much time with my sims as possible and use aging on only on the active house holds i'm playing.

Now as i find i'm struggling to create new stories at the moment my current save lasts about two months as i take breaks and play other games.

if you have the new Life and Death pack, you could literally be reborn and start over it would wipe his tree unless you stay in your family. But it would be a cool way to restart without actually restarting.
