I can see how it'd be encouraged from typing cheats in manually to the reward traits and potions we have access to. :p
I never bother cheating my sims motives or needs. Tend to use free real estate at times to place most unplayed sims and I cheat my sims money to have them start at zero and work at it. Have a sim move out of the family to live on their own. I give them a smaller amount of money rather than them having 20k to boot. Kinda miss when you would just marry random townie sims and they didn't have much of any money usually below a 1000 or so.
