My issue with this is that if you are not a Muslim you have no business wearing that item of clothing.
Incorrect. It's cultural, and frequently worn by non-Muslims in regions where it's traditional dress, even by foreigners working abroad.
Do you object to Maxis game reps refering to themselves as Gurus? It's principle definition is a religious title. But of course it has a secular meaning as well.
Do you object to the inclusion of Yoga in the Wellness Skill from Spa Day Game Pack? It's a Hindu discipline. But of course also a secular body/mind exercise regimen.
Why then make an exception for a pretty, traditional, headscarf? I know what conclusion I tend to reach when I see things like this, and it doesn't reflect well on your cultural biases.
It is also optional. No random Sims will ever wear it in your game, if you do not choose it for them. It does not intrude on you at all. You are free to ignore it.
The practice is steeped in Sheria Law and I have a problem with that, but that is another discussion off of this site. My personal problem with Maxis is if you include garb for one religion you must include all religious garb for all types or they wind up looking like hypocrits.
ETA: It is Maxis who said Muslim inspired meaning it was not meant to be about other places or a country or place who may wear a head covering or loose clothing etc. That makes it religiously inspired and that is where some have the strong opinion since we have never seen, here is some Christian Inspired content stated by Maxis, nor here is some Buddist Inspired clothing etc. Therefore saying other cultures wear something similar does not apply here, as it is Maxis who carefully chose the right words.
