I like the visual effects of the seasons, but yes, running 3 houses down to shovel snow in a field is absurd. I like that the sims will build a snow pal and make snow angels but they definitely need to fix shoveling so sims only shovel the sidewalk or walking paths once a day. I'd actually be happy if they completely removed shoveling tbh.
