Accidental male pregnancy with alien/human couples: Where did it go and can we have it back?

If you remember the early days of GTW, then you remember the short lived fun and giggles we had when our guy sims would do the nasty with his beautiful alien bride and end up just as pregnant as she was, or just end up pregnant whilst she was unable to conceive.

Whether this was a glitch, or intended and simply removed due to backlash, I’d really appreciate having this feature back and or at least knowing what happened to it and why it was removed.

Gonna keep this short and sweet, whilst praying some light can be shed on this feature and maybe some function can be returned.

Have a nice day, all. Sul Sul

Didn't realize that was a thing with female aliens. Should have did that when I had the chance. :# But that can still be changed in CAS settings if you want her to be able to get others pregnant manually right?

Using the gender update feature on her won’t enable both abilities though.

I understand what you’re saying but that’s the thing, it’s not a matter of the alien sim being able to impregnant her partner, it’s the fact that for a short time, she could do BOTH at random, it was that little surprise where I’d you tried for a baby with her, there was a decent chance you’d end up pregnant too! It was the comedy within that interaction that turned a simple “hey I want a baby” into “I ASKED FOR 1 BABY WHY IS MY STOMACH SO HUGE WHATS HAPPENING WHY IS SHE LAUGHING AT ME WHAT IS THIS”, it was the 2 for 1 surprise.

Also it was the giggle we got when our male sims would avoid being abducted by aliens, yet still wind up pregnant one way or another, and if memory serves me right, the gender update hadn’t even been released yet.

The update is amazing, I’m not at all trashing it because now we can create all manner of sims, however, this feature wasn’t just about how a sim is created, it was about the comedy in you try for a baby and get pregnant, but then you find out that whoops, Jerry is pregnant too! It made you question alien biology and gave you a good laugh as well, it also added a sort of surprise challenge to your story because you may have only had money for one child and now you have two, or three, or four, or six if you were really unlucky and each had triplets, but that’s what I miss, not the female alien creating children because I have plenty of couples with that ability, what they don’t have is that double ability.

If they were to re add this, obviously it would have to be random and the percentage would have to be halved because not everyone wants to have their alien keep producing twice the number of babies they asked for, however, having that would spice up the process and give another element to the game, a small element but it would add to the aliens overall biology, plus it would only be female alien sims, making it a specific feature,

You couple add in a few extra moodlets, maybe a double trouble achievement, have your guy sim wonder why and how he ended up with a bundle of joy too, or have them just celebrate together in a double baby shower.

Sorry for the ramble, I really appreciate what you’re saying, and with the update, yes, it’s now easy for female sims to make children with other female sims, but, it’s a one way system, you can either play one part or the other, you can’t do both, which is obviously down to EA wanting to avoid more gender arguments, but this alien specific feature wouldn’t need to be explained because they can just say “hey, she’s an alien, we don’t question it”,

It’s a silly little thing but it made a big difference.

    That's a biiggggg reply :D

Honestly didn't realize female aliens or aliens in general could do that. That's pretty interesting. Actually the first time hearing it just figured the gender option might come in handy if it wasn't working. :)

I would be curious to know if that feature was taken out or not. Though I RARELY get to play with aliens and see them in game less it's alien night or my sim happens to flirt with an alien by accident in disguise which is still rare.

The update does come in handy if you want to switch creation roles, makes interesting story plots for your sims to go through, but when it’s only ONE option, you tend to feel how lacking it is after having both, if only in a strange and rare form.
And yeah, when I first figured it out I was like “THIS IS SO WEIRD BUT SO COOL I MUST LOOK MORE INTO ALIENS”, it was specified to just the female alien sims, whilst male aliens had the basic same layout as human males, though it was fun to see that male aliens could get pregnant by being abducted same as the regular dudes, if not a little disheartening knowing the guys had sort of been left out of having any special ability of their own.

From a run where my human guy only had flings with alien females, I can say with almost 100% certainty that the features been removed, they all had babies, he didn’t, not once except for the one time he was actively whisked away via space ship.

Having time to think about it, I’m wondering if it was a programming issue, as when your male sim has a baby via abduction, the other parent is always female, no matter what, the alien is always a woman, least for me, haven’t heard of any simmers having a dude alien be the spawn parent, but again, I’m wondering if the code from that sort of leaked into household alien sims, everything has code and it would makes sense, the game registers a female alien and assumes she has the same code as the NPC generated ones used to stand in family trees when your male sim has an alien baby via abduction.

Basically, the game did an oopsie and gave all alien women the default function, which isn’t bad, but once EA noticed it they were obviously quick to repair it, not realising the oops was actually a fun oops to have around.

Or maybe someone was offended and so they thought “hey it’s early days into the pack, let’s remove it and hope nobody notices”

If it was removed for whatever reason, I hope they explain why with good reason or cast a vote to see who wants it back.

(Again sorry for the long reply)
  • I think it was removed because everyone's husband was getting pregnant not just the alien I still want it back
