I agree that the aging can be a bit imbalanced. I turn aging off during university and whenever I want during a sim's lifespan, usually in the adult years. Different players gravitate to different stages of life to focus on. I play with all of the ages, but yes, I actually prefer the YA & adult stages as my main focus. I like having the other ages rounded out and multi-generational play but I pause aging whenever I want in order to let a scenario play out or to spend more time with a certain sim at a specific phase.
