I think this pack will change how I play my game. I'm playing rotationally, meaning most of my sims hardly gets time to learn their basic skills. Once having some skill pints they might add to that skill while I play other households, but i is a slow process.
Now it seems like all who attend a runaway will build skills according to the scheduled program. So, many of my venues/retreats will focus on certain skills, and I'll make sure to invite not played sims as NPC runaway guests.
Say, I can send my played Politician to the runaway focusing on skills like Charisma and Debate, and inviting other politicians to join, and they will all gain some useful skills without actually being played actively. When I send one Actress to a runaway focusing on performing arts, I will make sure that other nonplayed actors will attend, so that all my sims i that career will build skills effectively. Same for Athletes, bar tenders, Chefs etc.
I will need to wait to find out if Career can be a requirement for inviting contenders. I hope we can at least set some skill requirement and not only Traits. If it's like the club sysem, I'll do fine :)
Rotational simming might get an upgrade with this :)
Oh, great point! I remember years ago, someone suggested that we create a club for the chefs at our restaurants, and then set their meeting place to "any restaurant" with cooking as an activity so that they would autonomously build skills. It seemed like a great idea at the time, but I've never noticed any significant skills improvement... and it also tends to leave the other restaurants a mess and bog things down as the sims in that club show up and cook while my other sims are out. (Not to mention cutting down on the amount of other diners.) So the getaway system may work much better in that respect.
