Can somebody test this please ?
- 11am - Staff : Cooking / Serve meal
- 12pm - Visitors : Eat
I would like to know if the Visitors will cook something or only eat the served food.
I think it's a bad timing to set both Serve and Eat in the same hour.

I set it up so the host cooks, and guests and staff eat at breakfast and for the host to eat later during the free time and the host cooked but burnt down the kitchen. 😁😂 I think guest sims will only cook if they are hungry and there is no food available or if they have active task to cook.

I think it's a bad timing to set both Serve and Eat in the same hour. So, I've been playtesting ever since the pack came out to see how each activity works. The start time always needs to be 3 hours apart. And yes, it is a bad idea to have someone serve and them eat at the same time. If there is no food prepared, the guest will cook their own food then eat it.
At 6 am I had one staff person serve meals (this person will only cook meals) because I had 16 guest there and I wanted to make sure the Retreat Leader made enough food. Do not add another activity for the Sim who you want to cook, otherwise they may stop preparing meals to do that other activity which happened when I was testing this. So, I never select more than one activity when I want them to focus on that. Decided to only use the Main Activity for Free Time and Sleep after multiple test runs with this.
Then at 9 am, that is when the guest will eat now that their is plenty of food out. Although I like the features, they really need to tweak the Eat option. If you have Eat as an activity, as you can see in the image, the Sims just keep on eating after they finish one plate. I've tried adding more activities and they still kept on eating for three straight hours. I know they were not hungry after finishing their first plate.
At 9 pm, I wanted my Sims to have drinks at the bar. I gave the guest one activity which was to have bar drinks. I also scheduled the fitness trainers to tend the bar (I added two bars for the test). This worked well and the two fitness trainers tended the bars the whole time because that was their only activity.

Thank you for this, i've been giving staff a few chores and the chef never cooks. I'm going to go back to the drawing board and test these out thank you. The main activity seems to be the overriding factor which is the problem i am having.

NoahLGP Note that "Have Dinner" and other meal Activities include both cooking and eating, so if you're using "Have Dinner" as a Main Activity, all roles will cook and eat. Your strategy is better for what you want, the division between roles.
